"Its so wierd seeing him sleep like this. I don't think I've ever seen him sleep so much in the 9 years I've known him" Patrick whispered as he quietly entered Jesse's ICU room.

Abbey sat by Jesse's bedside holding his hand as Patrick entered the room smiling up at him.

"I know just goes to show you how much rest is required after surgery, especially cardiac surgery"

"Yeah no kidding. One day I'll actually catch him awake and get to talk to him again"

"Yeah one day. Though I'm not complaining. It's just good to see him peaceful" She said as she softly brushed his hair back.

Not that Patrick was complaining either. He was just happy to see his best friend coming out on the other side of this.

"Yeah. How are you feeling? You doing ok?"

"Yeah, I'm good. It's funny, ever since I formally found I was pregnant I've been feeling a lot better actually, a little nauseous but honestly I'm feeling pretty good"

"That's good. He's gonna be a great dad you know"

Abbey looked over at Jesse smiling

"Yeah I know he is"

"You're going to be an awesome mom too. The two of you make sense. You're going to be a great family"

"Thanks Paddy"

"When is he being transferred?"

"In a few minutes actually. They just came right before you did. To say that his room was set up and ready to go. They're getting his paperwork and a gurney right now."

"That's great. When are you going to wake him up?"

"I'll wait till they come to get to him. He's going to have to sit up and take a few steps so he's going to need every bit of energy he can muster up"

"Well that's good, right? Closer and closer to recovery?"

"Yeah it is definitely but this is where he realizes just how slow recovery can be and how limited he will be"

"Yeah that's true but let's not forget who we're talking about here. This is Jesse"

Just as Abbey was about to agree with her pseudo brother in law, there was a rap at the door signaling what was about to take to place.

"If you want to meet us later, "

"No I can stay and help if that's ok"

"That would be great, thanks Pat"

The door then opened and there was a team waiting. "Ready?"

"We are, he's still out"

"That's fine we can wait on him but I will say the sooner we can transfer him, the sooner he can get situated and back to resting on the CCU"

Abbey nodded and began squeezing Jesse's hand "Jesse, come on Jesse you need to wake up"

"Jesse sweetie, I need you to wake up honey. Paddys here to see you and he's going to help us move you to your new room"

Finally, the faintest grunt and whine came out of Jesse.

"Jesse?"

Patrick held his breath, nervously excited to finally see and actually get to talk somewhat to Jesse since his surgery. Everytime he had seen him, Jesse had been resting.

Jesse's eyelids fluttered for a few seconds, and then finally opened, as Jesse blinked himself tiredly awake.

"Hey sweetie, I'm sorry to wake you up but we're ready for our trip down to the Cardiac unit. "
