Chapter 24: Leaving hurts

Maya's POV:

It was a normal day at work for the blonde, she was signing reports from a few scenes they had done this week, eating her lunch as she was doing so. Suddenly the phone started to go off, distracting her from her task. She answered the phone to a very frantic woman on the phone, "woah mum calm down" she said confused as to why she was calling her in the first place, but also because she was talking at the speed of lightning. "Maya you need to leave" she heard her mother say, had she been crying? It sounded like it, "mum what are you talking about?" She asked starting to panic a little herself. "Your father he just almost tried to kill me and he's coming you need to go" she said, "HE WAHT! but mum I can't leave my life is here my job is here my girlfriend the love of my life is here" she said trying to understand what was going on. "Maya trust me sweetheart your father just tried to stab me I think you want to listen to me and it's only for a week whilst the police try and find him" Maya couldn't believe what she was hearing, "where would I go?" She asked considering the plan. "I don't know just somewhere away from here...?" She said "ok ok I need to call Carina and talk to her... mum I swear if he tries to hurt her too, I'll go ballistic" the blonde said actually imagining killing her father if her ever even laid a finger on the brunette. "Ok be safe sweetheart call me to check in" she heard her mother say before hanging up the phone. The blonde stood there. Frozen. Paralysed. "Ugh ok ok think Maya" she said pacing the length of her office tugging on her hair. She walked back to her desk and picked up her private phone to call Carina

Both POV:

The phone rang for a few seconds before the brunette picked it up. "Sì Bambina what's up?" She asked, "I ummm we need to talk" she heard her girlfriend tell her making her heart stop. "What's wrong Bella your scaring me" she said starting to worry. "My dad he's coming I have to leave" Carina didn't respond as she sat down and processed what her girlfriend was saying. "What do you mean coming, to hurt you?" She asked hoping she was wrong, "yes he... almost tried to stab my mother hes dangerous I can't have Jamie whiteness his mother get stabbed, I need to run and I need you to take care of Jamie for me." She rushed already making her way into the beanery to tell her team and see if they can get the police if he arrives there. "Sì Bella that's fine I love that little boy, but what about you, I swear if he hurts you..." she said trying not to cry, trying so hard to stay strong for Maya. "Baby I'm strong I can take care of myself I've lived with that man for a long part of my life, I know his weaknesses his triggers what really pisses him off" she replied trying to convince her girlfriend she'll be ok. "Ok fine but Bella please try and call me everyday, I'll be worrying about you" she said standing up to inform her friends what was going on.
"Ok baby, I'll see you soon I promise, I love you and Jamie so much stay safe and tell him I'll be back in a week" she said starting to tear up herself but staying strong for her girlfriend, however Carina didn't care if she cried now, she was more concerned about her girlfriends safety and if she would make it back to her in a weeks time....
