It had been about a week or so since the Yule Ball was announced, and it was all anybody seemed to talk about. Harry had gotten a sudden spike in popularity ever since the first task, especially from girls. Hermione seemed to notice, but Lauren couldn't have been more oblivious, perhaps because she got the same thing from boys all the time.
Ron was panicking himself about finding a date, expecting everyone else already had one.

The Gryffindors where in their study hall this period, which would've been nice, except for the fact Snape was supervising. It was quiet for a while, Lauren and Hermione getting their work done successfully. That is, until Ron started up again about being dateless.

"At this rate we'll be the only ones in our year with no date!" he whined to Harry.

After a pause, he added, "Well, except Neville."
Him and Harry rudely laughed at the remark.

Lauren looked up from her work, a disapproving look on her face. "You sure about that?" She rhetorically asked, lifting an eyebrow. "Neville already has a date."

Harry and Ron looked at her for a moment in disbelief, then Ron sulkily says, "Thanks, now I'm really depressed."

"Why not just ask a girl from Beauxbatons? They're absolutely gorgeous! One girl actually asked me, stunning she was. But I didn't want to give her the wrong idea, of course, I think she's now going with Hannah from HufflePuff!" Lauren told them.

"You've been asked already?" Harry asked, afraid she already had a date.

"Are you for real, Harry?! Lauren has already been asked by like half the school!" Hermione said, it was quite an obvious fact.

"Yeah mate, don't you pay any attention?" Ron teased.

"Have you accepted anyone's ask yet?" Harry asked, holding onto a small glimmer of hope.

"No, I feel bad constantly turning people down, though." She answered sheepishly.

"Why is that, by the way?" Ron asked, giving Harry a glance.
