Izuku woke up the next morning and quickly got dressed in his school uniform. He then ate a few more crackers, saving the rest of the canned food for tonight. Unsurprisingly his stomach wasn't satisfied with the sparse meal. He ignored the nagging hunger and started to walk to school. He found his seat near the middle of the classroom and sat down to start to write in his her analysis book as he waited for the other kids to arrive.

"Now, Midoriya I heard that you went to the quirk doctor last weekend have you found out your quirk?" The teacher, a young woman with a quirk that allowed her to make small objects disappear and reappear, asked. I froze, the smile on my face wilting a bit. 'No. It doesn't matter that I'm quirkless. I'll still become a hero.'

"Ac-actully, I'm quir-quirkless but, I'm still going to become a hero." Izuku's face showed a defiant expression, like he fully intends to fulfill his dream. His teacher gasps at his words then her surprised expression turns to one of disgust, just as his mother's had. The rest of the class looks part shocked part disgusted as well. Izuku looked over at Bakugo who for some reason looked angry.

"You're quirkless? And you still want to be a hero?" The teacher asks mockingly.

"Y-yes." Izuku answers truthfully. His teacher starts to chuckle at his declaration. Soon the whole classroom is filled with laughter. A few kids even went as far as to yell at him and say that he can't be a hero but Izuku firmly ignored them with tears in his eyes.

"You think that someone like you can become a hero?" His teacher said through the laughter, "You'd be lucky to be accepted into an average school much less a hero school!"

Izuku was full out sobbing now. 'No one believes in me, not my mom, not my teacher, not my friends. I'm all alone."

The rest of the day went horrible. It had spread that Izuku was quirkless so now the whole school knew. Kids insulted and laughed at him all day, some of the more aggressive students hit him. Even Bakugo hadn't sat with him at lunch. In fact Bakugo ignored him all day. Then outside the school after classes had finished, Bakugo cornered Izuku.

"Wha-what do you wa-want, Kaacha-" Bakugo cut him off by pushing Izuku to the ground.

"DON'T YOU DARE TRY TO BE A HERO! YOU DUMB QUIRKLESS DEKU!" Bakugo yelled.

"Wh-why no-not?"

"BECAUSE I SAID SAID SO!!!" Bakugo blasted Izuku's arm, burning his sleeve and leaving a red burnt mark that throbbed with pain. Izuku cried out and grabbed his arm, tears streaming down his face.

"Kaach-kaachan?" Something like sadness flashed through Bakugo's eyes before he scowled and left with his 'friends'.

Izuku let out a sob, but not at the pain spreading up his arm, no he was crying because his best friend since he was a baby had just told him he couldn't become a hero and struck him. He stared down at his arm where his skin was raw and stinging with pain. He traced the injury with his finger. 'Why does everyone hate me?'  'It's because you're a quirkless deku. You're useless.'  said a darker part of Izuku's mind. 'No I'm not useless. I'm not!'  The wounded boy slowly walked home tears falling with every step.

Once again Izuku fell asleep crying.
