it was such a rush. the high i felt in that moment was unimaginable. as we left the chapel hand in hand, i was speechless. we're really married, i kept thinking to myself as we walked back to our car. he opened the door for me like always. i didn't buckle my seatbelt immediately; instead i watched him as he walked from my door to his, with what felt like more intensity to it. he sat down in his seat and exhaled, almost as if he had been holding his breath this whole time. i jumped into his lap and kissed him all over. he giggled as i continued, refusing to come up for air. "i can't believe we just did that. we're really married." i was more excited to have his last name than anything. india moore has a nice ring to it.

roddy placed his hands on my thighs. "thank you," he started to say with the biggest smile i had ever seen. i cocked my head to the side. why is he thanking me? i should be thanking him. i waited for him to finish his sentence. "for marrying me. for making me the happiest man alive."

he's so precious. i kissed him again. "bird wasn't tripping, you're such a dork." we both stopped and laughed. "i love you. i love you so much. and thank you, for allowing me to be my best self. my best, and most spontaneous self." before i knew it, i was in tears. he smiled at me and wiped them away.

"you're such a baby. i'm so happy that i get to call you my wife now." i climbed out of his lap and back into my seat. he started the car. "do you wanna go pick out a ring now?" he asked.

i shrugged. "i think we should wait til we get to miami. i don't wanna make your birthday about me any more than i already have."

he shook his head. "you didn't make it about you. i made it about us." he emphasized. my heart started to swell. i loved our relationship so much. he really turned us into a beautiful thing. "now do you wanna go or not?" he asked again.

i stopped for a moment to think about it. there's really nothing stopping us from doing it, except for me. i finally nodded. "yes, let's go." i obliged. he backed out of the chapel parking lot and headed in the direction of the strip. i stared out the window at the cars passing us on either side. i mindlessly fiddled with the fingers on my left hand. there's gonna be a ring on this hand. i found myself smiling again. i looked over at roddy once more. he seemed like he knew where he was going, so i didn't think to question him. however, i did reach for his right hand and hold it in mine.

"i know the perfect place," he started, "same place i got my chain made at. it's a really quick turn around time, too." he explained. i nodded as i watched him pull into the parking lot of shane co. i should've brought my crocs with me, i thought to myself as we got out of the car and walked inside.

he held my hand throughout the process and gave me free rein over the ring selection. it was all so overwhelming, i was absolutely in love. we both decided on white gold bands. i chose this beautiful halo engagement ring in 14k white gold with a 1.18 carat diamond set inside. the man walked away with my ring, leaving roddy and i to pick out our wedding bands. "i think this one looks really nice." he pointed to a ring for myself.

i shook my head. "it's too flashy. i don't want my wedding band to be really flashy if my engagement ring already is." he nodded and wrapped his arms around my waist. i pointed to something that caught my eye. "i think that one would look really nice on you, baby."

it was a white gold, seven-stone ring. i looked up at roddy to see how he felt about it. his eyes shifted back and forth between that ring and a basic 14k band. i hope he doesn't pick that one, it's so basic. "that one is fire," he agreed and waved someone over, "lemme get this one and this one." he pointed to both of our bands. the man pulled them off of the display and walked away with them. i turned back to look at roddy.
