india jalyse
"can we talk?" he looked down at his shoes, then back up at me. i stopped and looked at him. it doesn't matter how much i wanted to turn away and never look back, i couldn't. i wanted to hear what he had to say. i looked past him to see cassius, jamar, and jania pulling up at the same time. i sighed to myself.
"come in." i stepped back and allowed him to step into my house. i sat down on the couch with kylan on my lap while jordan continued to hover in the doorway by my living room. jasmine wasn't anywhere in sight, but she couldn't have gone far. i can only assume she was trying to give us some privacy. jordan just stood there for a moment, fidgeting with his fingers. he wouldn't look at me, and it was starting to frustrate me. "i let you in for a reason. you gon' speak or what?" he finally looked up at me. his hair was dangling in front of his eyes. every part of me wanted to get up and fix it. in that moment i yearned to play with his twists, but i didn't. self control, india. just as jordan fixed his mouth to speak, jamar walked through the door followed by jania and cassius. they all stopped and looked at him for a moment, and then kept walking into the kitchen. i looked back at jamar and cassius. they both locked eyes with jordan, not letting up on this death glare. "jordan! you gon' speak or what?" i snapped, causing kylan to flinch a little.
"c-can we um, talk somewhere more private?" he pushed his hair out of his eyes. i turned around to see that jasmine had now joined my brothers in the kitchen. at this point there was no privacy to be had.
"i mean, clearly i have company over so..." i hesitated. i didn't know if i was ready to hear what he had to say just yet, but i didn't want him to leave. i didn't know what to do. jania walked over and grabbed the baby.
"don't let us stop you, jamar and i have to go feed the baby anyways." she said. jamar took the hint and walked upstairs with them.
"well, i wanna sleep over tonight. so i can run back to the apartment and get some clothes really quick." jasmine chirped.
"jas, how the hell you supposed to get back to the apartment?" cassius asked with an attitude.
"you. now let's go. we're coming right back anyways." cassius didn't budge. he just stood in the doorframe, glaring at jordan. jasmine picked up her phone and cassius' car keys. she started to walk towards the door. "cash, come on." she said.
cassius finally started to walk towards the door, not breaking eye contact with jordan. he walks past him and bumps into him on purpose. "bitch ass." he mutters under his breath.
"cash, bring ya ass!" jasmine yells from outside.
cassius gives jordan one last look before he moves toward the door. "shit. fifteen minutes, indie." he says and closes the door behind him. jordan lets out a sigh and looks back up at me. i can't stop looking at him. i shouldn't be looking at him the way that i am right now, but i can't help it.
"you don't have to stand there, you know." i said and motioned for him to sit on the couch. he walks over and sits about two seats down from me. i had to catch my breath as he walked past me, his scent filling the air. jordan always smelled amazing though, i'm not even surprised. why the hell is he sitting so far? i wanted him to move closer so bad. he looked down at the carpet beneath our feet. more silence between us. he was starting to make me mad. i finally spoke up again. "so um, what brings you here?"
he finally looks up at me. "i don't really know what to say to you, india." he said. well figure it out soon, i thought to myself. i didn't say anything. "i'm sorry. i'm so sorry."
i blinked at him. "sorry for what?" i knew exactly what he was apologizing for, but i wanted to hear him say it. his apology was too much of a blanket statement for me. he filled in one of the spaces between us, still leaving one empty seat.
