A/N: I really have no idea what this is. I literally just wrote whatever my brain decided to write, so uh, yeah.

Also: does anyone have any more Bucky story ideas? I've been drawing a blank lately... Comment them please!

You awake in a panic, your body jolting upright in bed, cold sweat glistening on your forehead where you shakily raise a hand to wipe it away.

Another nightmare. Another one.

Working on steadying your breathing, your gaze begins to wander the small motel-style room that's been deemed your living space for this month, the glimmer of the soft moonlight catching your attention as it filters through the thin curtains covering the window.

"You alright?" A rather drowsy and dazed sounding tone murmurs from beside you, making your already uneasy form jump slightly.

Willing your heart rate to slow down, you sigh softly, turning your attention to the man who had been previously sleeping at your side, his now much less dazed form sitting up beside you, his steely blue eyes resting gently on you.

"I'm fine," You croak, your voice hoarse. "It was just another nightmare, that's all."

Hearing your words bounce off the four walls surrounding you both, Bucky Barnes offers you a small, comforting smile, instinctively taking a gentle hold of your waist and pulling you closer to his side.

You hum lightly against the much firmer form you're now pressed up against, settling into the new position with a yawn.

"Would talking help or no?" His voice urges from above you, a rather raspy whisper that sends familiar shivers dancing down your spine.

You gulp, the nightmare still lingering in the back of your mind, poised to take over your thoughts yet again.

"It was no different than the last one," You admit with another yawn, snuggling closer to Bucky as the darker thoughts begin to leak out into the forefront of your mind.

"We're safe here, Doll," The man holding you in his arms, shielding you from the outside world assures, his blue eyes meeting yours, the shorter pieces of his longer hair tickling your cheeks as they fall forward. "They won't find us here. We're safe."

"How can you be so sure?" You whisper, the same question that haunts you every time something like this occurs.

"Because, frankly, we are in the middle of nowhere," He chuckles softly, the sound raising your spirits slightly. "And, we have each other. We make a pretty damn good team."

"That we do," You agree with yet another yawn, a heaviness beginning to bring your eyelids closed, your body starting to relax against his chest.

"And," Bucky continues, the feeling of his cool metal fingers softly toying with your hair making you grin sleepily. "If anyone tries to separate us, I won't let that happen. You know that, right?"

"Mhm," Is all you can manage to mutter into the crook of his neck, his breath stirring against your cheeks gently.

Bucky just smiles to himself, his gaze wandering over your quickly relaxing facial features, his one hand still messing softly with your hair, the other secured firmly around your waist, keeping you close to him.

He knows that whenever you get nightmares like these that the last thing you need is to be alone.

So, he always makes sure to let you know that you will never be alone, as long as he's around to keep you company.

"I'll never let them take you," He murmurs huskily, planting a delicate kiss to your forehead, smiling wider, if that's even possible.

Sure, they could try.

But he'd be damned if they'd get away with it.

Because he's got you and you've got him.

"They can try and separate us," His softly determined voice echoes from outside your groggy thoughts, your body unconsciously shifting even closer into him. "But they won't win. I won't let them. I finally got you, and they can't take you from me. I'm not sure what I'd do if you were gone."

"I'm not sure what I'd do without you either, Buck," You mutter aloud, blurry eyes forcing themselves open to take one last look at the man holding you in his arms. "Thanks for helping me through that nightmare, again."

Bucky Barnes simply smiles, once more pressing his lips to your forehead.

"It's the least I could do for you, Love."
