A/N: I was feeling really sad, so I wrote this. Takes place after CA:CW, though the divide of the Avengers never occurred. Bucky also joins up with the team, along with a fellow comrade of his, who just also happens to be his girlfriend as well. The pair were both members of HYDRA's Winter Soldier program.

Warnings: Sad. That's it. Just sad. (Sorry in advance.)

Apparently, the US government's pardons are completely retractable.

At any given moment.

As you're currently finding out, with Secretary Ross sternly eyeing you down the meeting table at the New Avengers Complex, two heavily armed guards in either of his side.

"I haven't done anything!" You protest, emotion thick in your tone, willing to keep the tears at bay. "You can't just pick me up and out of here! This is my home! These people,"

You pause, gesturing to the entire team of Avengers also in the room with you, clearly as unimpressed and upset at the government official's demand as you are.

"They're my family. I'm not going anywhere."

"She's right," An all too familiar voice from behind you pipes up, the owner's hand softly laying on your shoulder as he nears your side, patting you reassuringly. "We're not going anywhere, Mr. Secretary."

Ross huffs in annoyance, rolling his eyes.

"You both sound like children. You're now criminals, no thanks to this lot," He states plainly, gesturing to the armed men at his side. "Now, if you both would like to avoid a trip to the RAFT, I would advise you come quietly."

Anguish swells within you, the arm set on your shoulder sliding down to take your hand into its grasp, squeezing gently.

"Please," You plead, tears beginning to roll down your cheeks. "I, we, were just starting to feel human again! And now you're just going to lock us away, no different than HYDRA!"

"L/N, you and Mr. Barnes are currently criminals who are under arrest for going against the terms of your pardons. I would once more advise that you both come without a fuss."

"Is there not anything you can do?" You hear Bucky's tone sound from somewhere beside and above you, no likely a question directed towards his best friend.

"There is, but it's a lengthy process, Buck," Steve sighs heavily from somewhere across the room, likely running a stressed hand through his hair, tears likely brimming his eyes as well. "You've just got to go and trust that we've got the situation handled from here."

The hand holding yours tenses but then relaxes, your boyfriend's other free hand delicately reaching down towards your broken facial features, tucking a stray piece of hair behind your ear.

"C'mon, Doll," He urges gently, once again giving your hand a reassuring squeeze, stepping forward with you in tow.

And that's how it goes, the entire way out of the place where you'd called home ever since you finally regained your past memories, all while making new ones.

Your hand doesn't leave Bucky's.

Not even when they shackle both of your ankles to the bench in the back armoured truck they'd shoved you both into, thankfully leaving your hands unrestrained.

And when the doors slam shut, submerging you both into a dim darkness only illuminated by a small, flickering light, that's when you really break down.

"I can't believe this is happening again. It can't be. It can't be," You gasp out in between choked sobs, twisting as best you can to try and get into your lover's grounding embrace.
