048 - the mighty fall

themes: trauma, amnesia, mania

ambition was the dark that lined her eyes

marked by a fatigue that refused to catch up

nothing could have torn her castle down

from the high of thinking she won it all

she was certain that when she jumped

there would be wings to keep her up

but nothing was more sobering than the fall

of when her head sank inside the concrete

nobody recognized her bloodied knuckles

as she woke up from her comatose dream

if the memories of a past life are gone

does she get to sketch her new portrait

or will she forever drag the chains of shame

never once forgetting her flight of fools

what would you pay to see the pain

that lies beneath her blackened eyes

to find whatever remains of childhood waste

clinging to the illusion of a forgiving past

when the colors fade the truth falls forth

never able to be captured by graphite hands
