themes: love, healing, courage
in a hopeless land of furious fathers
hand in hand with modest mothers
our night terrors come alive again
in the walls of our childhood bedrooms
i took your hand and we ran and ran
but found ourselves on splitting roads
fright filled my vision as blood ran out
and the joy left your ocean blue eyes
he threw me in chains but i saw truth
and i knew freedom was worth the price
nobody told you what love really meant
as you stared at your tear-stained cheeks
together we break free and build a home
where courage is not the absence of fear
at the crossroads they say fight or flight
but i turned around and chose you instead
