9am was just around the bend. The sun had clambered into it's place in the sky and a chorus of birds had already started to sing in unison.

Everyone in Castle Dedede was still asleep, despite the lovely morning scenery outside. Not even the delicate rays of sunlight could make the residents. Only the squad of maids had woken and were preparing for the hustle and bustle of the castle that day. Yes, the castle was always busy but that day it would be much busier than usual. Why? It was Kirby's birthday that day, meaning a grand celebration would be hosted.

Though the King despised Kirby with all of his guts, he couldn't deny the Cappies the right to celebrate it. Even if he put forward a law to prevent it, he knew they would disobey him as they always did.

The King rose from his slumber in a trashy mood. That morning, his spirits were low and he was mardy. Today would be all about Kirby, not him.

Rubbing the sleep from his eyes, he made his way to his throne room. The hallways were unusually empty that morning. Most of the Waddle Dees were working on dishes in the kitchen, or hanging up decorations such as banners and balloons.

Slumping into his throne all moodily, he gritted his teeth at the thought of the Star warrior getting more attention than him. He was a monarch, he was royal blood and he owned the place, yet this pink puffball who was not even able to speak got all the Cappy's attention. He smashed his clenched fist onto the armrest of his throne in a fit of rage. His loyal follower, Escargoon, came to his side at once. The mollusk tried to comfort the monarch as best as he could, but to no avail.

As he sat on his throne, he wondered why his birthday wasn't celebrated as grandly as Kirby's was. He turned to his follower for answers," Everybody loves me, so why ain't my birthday so important?"

"Sire, I think someone's been sugarcoating one too many things.." Mollie said in a low voice.

The maid stood in the doorway with her arms folded and leaning against the doorframe. He gave an irritated scowl and forced her to carry on talking,"I'll put it simply so you can understand" she smirked, insulting him,"Kirby is a saviour, constantly helping the citizens of Dreamland and giving them an easy life. You, on the other hand, order monsters and make their lives harder. Long story short, they just don't like you."

She shrugged as she finished speaking. "Well, if they don't celebrate my birthday then why don't they celebrate
..uh..." - he tried to think of someone important - "Why don't they celebrate Meta Knight's birthday?" He grinned, believing that she would give him the same answer as before.

Surprisingly, she didn't,"Well, Meta Knight is quite secretive about many things, so I assume they have no idea when his birthday even is. It's somewhere in April, yes? No..that's Kirby's birthday..Sometime in March, I believe. Anyway, it's not as if the town's folk even know much about him as it is, let alone the date he was born. All that aside, I don't think even he celebrates his birthday.." she babbled.

King Dedede's eyes widened,"He doesn't celebrate his birthday?" He asked.

Mollie shrugged,"Well, I guess not. I'm not sure.."

She trailed off into the hallway, saying she had things to do. The King gave Escargoon a very confused glance, which he returned.

Meanwhile, Kirby was snoozing the day away in the safety of his own home. It was no surprise, all the Star Warrior seemed to do in his spare time was sleep, eat or play. Again, it wasn't a surprise because he was a child. Some Cappies forgot he was still youthful and had his childhood in front of him, though he never got the time to embrace it. Most of his life was spent fighting monsters or training to destroy NME.

(Y/n) mindfully tapped on the door, hoping the child was awake. He wasn't. Letting herself in, she put the tray she held on Kirby's nightstand as she tried waking him up. For once, she could hear through the poyos and heard actual words. "Wh-what time is it even..?" He asked her.
"Oh, uh..it's 9:36. I brought you breakfast since it's your birthday. Happy birthday by the way." She smiled, bowing when she finished speaking.

The puffball sat upright on his bed, still relatively tired. To him, no amount of rest was enough.

"Well, are you excited for today? I'm sure it'll be pretty fun." (Y/n) beamed, trying to get a word or two out of him.

"Yeah I'm excited. I don't have to train today, which is good." Kirby cheered, giving a smile.

Train? But with who? (Y/n) knew that Tiff was capable of self defence, but only because Meta Knight had taught her.
Wait..
She understood now.

"Yeah, you don't have to train. Today's your day off." She reminded him.
"I just hope Dedede doesn't order a monster today. That would be annoying to sort out." Kirby uttered, hopelessly.

She watched as his face fell from an optimistic smile to a worried frown. "Well, I'm sure that Dedede won't. He wouldn't do that to you, would he?" She nervously reassured, unsure of it herself.
"He would, he's done it before. He just wants me gone from Cappy Town." Kirby muttered, sounding even more hopeless.

(Y/n) didn't want him to be in this gloomy mood all day, so she reminded him of the things to look forwards to. "Hey, didn't you know that there'll be a huge firework display? There's also a parade and...a huge cake!" She boasted.
"A huge cake? Who made it?" Kirby questioned, a bit happier than before.
"Oh, Mollie and Ebony. I doubt you'd know them as they're maids on board the Halberd. Anyway, eat your breakfast, there's a lot we have to do today.."
