"Have you ever logged into a chamber?" Ga Eun asked.
"Yes, I have."
"And so what do you think of Black Moja?" Kwon Jin asked he was interested in discovering his future brother in laws thoughts.
"I can understand why people sympathize with the woman, she is a good orator, but she isn't justice. I mean, she should host a talk show and not push people to rise against the state."
"Thank goodness for a second I thought you might glorify the woman," Kwon Jin added, making Hye Ra gulp down the whole of her glass.
"Anyway, we are glad you here," said Hong Ji Seok pronouncing his first words of the evening.
"I'm happy to be here too, sir."
The dinner went relatively smoothly, with Ga Eun's grandmother insisting throughout the meal for an express wedding.
After the dinner, Ga Eun's father retreated in his office; Jun Ho observed that father and son didn't exchange many words. Their relationship resembled the one he had with his father. If it weren't for their age difference, both Jun Ho and Kwon Jin would have sworn they were swapped at birth. Kang Baek Hyun kept the Kwon Jin close to him as if the man were his offspring.
This was the main reason why younger Jun Ho had found comfort by the Seos. The Kang's son envied the Seos family unity, wishing he too had a sibling. Perhaps things would have been more natural. His father could share his expectations between the two.
Seo Kyung Gi treated him like a younger brother, and his sister was the kindest little girl he had met.
How could they vanish like the wind?
The Hongs, the Kangs, and the Seos were close, yet the remaining families moved on with life as if their bond never existed. There was something wrong; the idea possessed Jun Ho. He had to find the actual circumstances surrounding their disappearance.
The women remained in the living room while Kwon Jin took Jun Ho to the library.
"So, what is it you wanted to talk about?" Kwon Jin said with a huge smile.
Jun Ho didn't beat around the bush; he went straight to the point.
"Eh, I'm sorry to ask you this, but do you still have contacts in the prosecutor's office?"
Kwon Jin's smile widened, thinking Jun Ho would ask him to back him up for a job there.
"Yes, of course."
"Do you think you could get me access to two files? If it's too much hassle, one will do. Actuallyㅡ."
Kwon Jin's expression changed, "which files are you referring to?"
"The Satellite file, Seo Kwan Gi's and Seo Hye Mi's.
"I thought there were two files."
Jun Ho slid a hand at the back of his head," I'm sorry, I shouldn't have asked. I hate not doing this through procedures. Forgive me; it was stupid."
"No worries, I'm not sure I can get you all of them, but I'll do my best," Kwon Jin replied.
"Oh, thank you, Kwon Jin. I mean, I can't ask my father. He seems tense every time I mention their names."
"May I ask you a question?" Kwon Jin asked.
"Of course, anything."
"How long do you count on leaving my sister pending?"
Jun Ho had let down his guard forgetting he was dealing with Hong Kwon Jin, a man who didn't do things just for the sake of it. The inspector knew he would have to pay for the favor he asked, and it seemed Kwon Jin already had in mind what he wanted in return.
"Instead of asking me for files, you could have access to them if you worked in the prosecutor's office." The remark was slick and efficient, but it was no surprise coming from the ambitious Hong Kwon Jin.
"Kwon Jin Iㅡ."
"Don't feel pressured, but a marriage next spring would be nice," Kwon Jin said, making the demand sound like a request.
"I'll see with Ga Eun," Jun Ho replied.
"That's something you will have to change; dear brother, don't consult women too much when you need to decide on things."
This was the new Kwon Jin, a man who made the women of his family cringe.
"I'll keep that in mind," Jun Ho returned.
The atmosphere was heavy Kwon Jin changed the subject to lift the mist, "Oh, did you get the invitation?"
"Which invitation?"
"The one for the Supernova Entertainment bash," Kwon Jin said, switching from his authority trip mode to the chaebol jet-setter he once was.
"Oh, yeah, I got it. I don't think-" again, Jun Ho didn't get to finish.
"You should go. I will be there, little brother," Kwon said with a smile.
It was subtle, yet it was another hidden demand which Jun Ho could not refuse.
Before leaving, Jun Ho was given a few minutes alone with Ga Eun, who walked him to his car, where a maid stacked leftovers in the trunk for his family.
"Hope my brother said nothing out of line. He has changed."
"It's was okay, no worries, eh I was wondering would you like to go to the movies or something with-"
"I'd love to," Ga Eun said with hast.
"Okay, then I'll call you with my shifts and yours, it'sㅡ."
"Don't worry about my timetable Jun Ho. I can make time."
"Okay, then I'll call you," Jun Ho said as he got in his car.
Jun Ho wasn't forcing himself, Ga Eun was someone special, and he wasn't insensitive to the woman's charms.
"So what did he say?" said her grandmother when Ga Eun got back inside.
"He asked me out on a date."
"What, you've already been through that. We're not In the Joseon era; he could have proposed to you. I wouldn't have objected, Kwon Jin. What did you say to the man?" said the cross old woman.
"Don't worry, grandma, Ga Eun will be married next Spring."
"That's far I could die before," joked the woman.
Seoul, Gangnam-ro
The moment of truth was at hand; Soo Yeon stood in front of the building, which she once considered home. One could hear the music from miles. Her hands trembled as she showed her invitation, feeling as though she was trespassing on her property. There were people everywhere, mainly celebrities. She had not made many steps when a hand slid around her waist.
Soo Yeon was ready to twist the person's arm when they said.
"자기 야 [Jaegi ya= my love] are you ready to party?"
