Seoul, Yeongdeungpo-dong, CGV
Soo Yeon never met other students outside of school. She did not go shopping or to Norebangs [Karaoké] with friends. She pursued no social events except taking part in all these fan meetings, which covered her actual activities.
Also, Soo Yeon never dated even virtually, and she held no regrets concerning her lack of knowledge on the matter. While waiting for everyone, she thought about the few crushes of her life.
Like many, Soo Yeon remembered asking her brother to marry her when she was 5-years-old, but he made her cry as he explained siblings could not. Another boy that day wiped her tears, saying he was not her brother and he could marry her, stupid Jun Ho, she thought as his face appeared in her mind.
Her third crush came much later; she could admit it now since he wasn't there. Jared left her with mixed feelings, but after a few weeks, she missed him. The hacker was her mentor and substitute for many things. She respected and cared for him, without knowing she fell. His charms were undeniable.
Soo Yeon was not as dense as she thought. A few men made her heart flutter.
She stared at her shoes, which found themselves overshadowed; she looked up to face Kim Su Jung, fresher and cleaner than sung by André 3000. Soo Yeon could almost feel spring's breeze in November.
There were many things to complain about concerning Su Jung, but it was impossible to put in looks on the hit list. The young man possessed beautiful skin, probably due to his father's VBC miracle formula Soo Yeon presumed. Su Jung's smile was gorgeous, showing you the teeth you only see in adverts, white and in-line. The boy had the perfect teeth and lips, oh yeah, what lips.
The girl did not even want to go there. Yes, Kim Su Jung was 뇌섹남 [intelligent, attractive guy] Soo Yeon acknowledged it. Maybe in another life, she would have fallen for him. A life where: her mind would only worry about her wardrobe and school, one where her heart would push back resentment and hatred like a bouncer in front of a nightclub letting in emotions of love.
A love story seemed like an unattainable dream. For now, Soo Yeon had a crappy life and a twisted personality, which preferred doing stakeouts on celebrities to catch them doing the unthinkable. She was not a suitable match for such a clean-slated boy.
"안녕 [Annyeong=Hello] Soo Yeon Su Jung said with a smile which Soo Yeon wanted to slap off his face.
"안녕."
"Have you been waiting long?"
"No, I just arrived," Soo Yeon lied, not wanting him to think she was eager and looking forward to the date.
"I thought I'd be here early, but there was traffic," Su Jung explained as he saw the frown appear on Soo Yeon's forehead.
"I told you, I just got here," said Soo Yeon awkwardly, "Min Ha texted, she'll be here in 10minutes."
Why did she always answer him in such an aggressive manner when his voice was filled with warmth?
Kind and polite, Su Jung felt obliged to apologize although he was not even late. This gentleman-like behavior irritated Soo Yeon, who was aware of what it implicitly implied. The young men's payback for having beaten up three bullies was too much to handle. She wished to tell him it was enough; he did not need to carry on paying her back. The resolution did not reassure Soo Yeon; her churning stomach warned her like a premonition that things might not work out the way she expected.
From afar, Min Ha spied on them.
"We shouldn't be doing this, Min Ha," Chul Yoo Jin said with his head poking out above his girlfriend's.
