"I think I'm going to throw up" Garcia slumped to the floor.

"I... can't... breathe" Reid panted.

"Come on pretty boy- that was just the warm up" Morgan laughed before he saw Cameron walk through the gym training area in the basement level of the FBI.

"Sorry I'm late, I got lost" Cameron spoke simply and pulled her hair back into a low pony, she had already gotten changed into her workout clothes that consisted of a pair of black workout leggings with an oversized white thin t-shirt on top of her sports bra.

"You missed the warmup" a stern voice spoke from the corner, Hotch's voice. He was in his usual work attire as he stood up with a clipboard and timer in hand.

"Sorry" she simply said and stood next to Morgan. Hotch pausing as he watched her; she seemed different, she didn't apologise profusely, she didn't try to over compensate- she just apologised and avoided making eye contact.

"Do you want to run a lap with me to warm up?" Morgan asked her with a kind smile that she ignored and shook her head instead.

"I'll be fine" she gave him a simple smile.

"You need to warm up Johnson, the training is hard and the assessment at the end is even harder-" Hotch tried to say.

"I said that I'll be fine" she made eye contact with him for the first time since his office.

She had never seemed so confident in herself, it almost made Hotch lose his breath for a minute- he tried to hide it with a simple nod.

"Very well then. Everyone get up- the training starts now."

"C-Cameron- how the hell are you still standing?" Emily panted an hour later as water dripped off her body, Cameron didn't respond. They had just been made to run laps after a full workout, Rossi almost passed out after the first 5 laps, Reid threw up twice- even Morgan was struggling by the end of it. But Cameron stood strong to everyone's surprise- especially Hotch who had been trying to increase the difficulty of the workout more and more.

It was safe to say that Cameron got off to a rocky start, physical fitness wasn't her strong suit so the actual workout was hard and he could tell she was struggling but she didn't say anything, she just kept trying- over and over again, she kept trying.

Even when Hotch thought her body would give out with how much she was failing to keep up with the weights and circuit training- she kept going.

She was falling behind, had bruises from dropping the weights on her legs and had rope burn from the equipment. Hotch had to shake his head to hide his frustration that was apparent on his face and only seemed to fuel her shaking body to continue even though she looked like she would drop dead any minute- that was until it came to the track.

The team got outside and lined up to do their speed and endurance test where Hotch thought for a split second about telling Cameron to just sit out given how hard she found the other physical tests, to tell her not to worry about it since it wasn't mandatory for agents in his unit to have but then he saw her face;

Determination.

Determination like he had never seen it before. It was like she wasn't even there, like she was somewhere else, stood ready to run as the others stretched to prep- she just waited. Her eyes were fixed on something, fixed on nothing, fixed on everything.

He watched her as the team all waited for him to blow the whistle.

"Uh, Hotch?" Morgan spoke after a while of waiting to snap him out of his trance.
