My body's used to 5am shifts over the past years so it's understandable why I get up so early even without trying. The flat was so quiet when I peeled my eyes open when the sunlight shone from the window. I took my phone from the bedside table and check the time.
7:15...
It's too early. When I threw my legs over the bed, a pair of small arms wrapped around my waist. I turn around to see Blaine half asleep. He must have felt the bed shift.
"Go back to sleep, baby." I whisper in his ear as I stroke his hair. I put a stuffed bear beside him and he wrapped his arms around it immediately. When I put the bottle close to his mouth, he didn't object. He turns around, his small back facing me, with one arm around the bear's neck and the other hand holding his bottle.
I went out as quietly as I can and went into our bedroom. I decided to take a shower before I went down to the kitchen.
I took a quick warm shower and dressed myself in some sweatpants and a sweater. Louis' still asleep in our room when I walked in so there's a large chance he was still asleep when I got out. He looks peaceful in his sleep but there's no denial of the events from last night. I might have to remind him of his sister's birthday today.
When I went down the kitchen, I made a pot of coffee good for all of us. I suspect Milly to be waking up any minute now. The water was just boiling when a messy brunette walks in, her hair sticking out in different places and the sleeve of her shirt falls off her shoulder.
"Good morning," I say, leaning against the counter. She looks up, looking surprised and shocked.
"You're up so early." she tells me, running a hand through her tangled hair. She made a disgusted look when her fingers got stuck between the tangles. How in gods name did she get into this state? Only one answer popped in mind...
"So what'd you do last night?" I ask casually as I turn around and took the pot off the stove. I pour it in a kettle and added coffee powder in.
"I have no idea what you're talking about, Meg." she says tiredly. I took a glance behind me, she wipes her face with her hand. She looks ridiculous, not classy at all. I chuckled and poured her a nice cup of steaming coffee.
"if you insist. Drink that, you'll find yourself awake in the next 10 minutes." I tell her and slide the mug carefully to her. She took a whiff of the coffee and went into a bliss. I chuckled and poured myself my own.
I blew on the steaming liquid and put the mouth of the mug to my lips. "Youve gotten very mature the last time we met, Meg." she says, surprising me.
"Have I?"
She nods and puts the mug down. She smiles warmly and pulls her hair into a ponytail, not bothering to comb it again whatsoever. I think she realise it would be impossible to tame her hair in this state. "Not just you, I mean both you and Louis. He's so good with him, Blaine just loves him."
I smile and looked down at my coffee mug, "Yes, he's been very father-like ever since. I mean, it's Blaine." I tell her, "Who else would put things in perspective for us, eh?"
She laughs, a warm genuine, nervous laugh. "Now where is this going?" I ask her with a wide smile on my face.
She looks at me curiously, raising an eyebrow. She looks almost uncertain and nervous. I tell her to spit out, making her even more uncertain.
"Well," she says gently at last. "Things got me thinking last night... And-"
Door slams on the wall. Louis walks in, drowsy and half awake. He didn't walk, more like stumbled in. "Good morning." he says hoarsely, sitting on a barstool near the fridge.
