I've never been so distracted in my life. It's almost making me look like a zombie at work all week and my coworkers are starting to notice, especially Milly.
We don't see each other quite a lot even though we work in the same corporation now but when we do meet, it's always her telling me to 'Snap out of it'.
I'm trying, I really am. I'm just really worried about Blaine lately. Monday I got a call from the headmistress telling me he skipped 3 periods that day, Tuesday he missed his practice, Wednesday he was caught in an off-limits area and I couldn't imagine what's going to happen next.
It had both Louis and I quite distracted at our workplace. Yesterday, Wednesday, we were both late at work because we had to pull Seth and Blaine apart. Neither of us know the root of their fight but all we know is a fight that bad does not have a small root.
After we've pulled them apart, he stormed off and we couldn't find him the moment he stepped out of the house.
"Hey, you've been spacing out again." Milly tells me. "You haven't done anything the past 20 minutes, Meg." She points at the blank screen on my laptop.
It frustrates me that I can't function anywhere and I can't focus on anything. Out of frustration, I slammed the screen of my laptop and pushed it aside. It caught Milly off guard, taking a step back away from me.
"Hey, I didn't mean to be overbearing." She says, "I'm just a little worried about both of you. You haven't been yourselves for some time. It really is worrying, Meg."
I turn to her. "Both of us?" I ask her.
She nods and leans on my table. She looks around and I do as well in fear someone might hear us. "Harry and Louis met yesterday and Harry told me he hasn't been very... Attentive? He was very distracted, always checking his phone for a message. Something like that."
That makes sense. We've been getting calls all week due to Blaine's behaviour. "Oh, yeah yeah. I understand." I tell her. "Blaine's just been getting himself into these shitty situations and the headmistress asks us if something's bothering him. We never know what to answer—"
"But you do know" She tells me with a curious expression.
I bit my lip and nodded. Milly knows a lot of things she shouldn't and I still don't know where her resources lie. "But it doesn't seem appropriate to tell a school administrator." I tell her.
She tilts her head from side to side and shrugs her shoulders. "Fair enough. Have you tried talking to him?" She asks me.
I lean on my chair and cross my arms. "He doesn't talk to anyone lately. Not even Louise and he used to tell her everything." I tell her and I bite my lip. I hate to admit this to anyone, even myself.
"What?" Milly asks me, raising her eyebrows.
I look at her, looking worried. "It feels like he doesn't trust anyone anymore. Not even us." I tell her. "Milly, it's terrifying! Slowly our relationship is turning into mine and my mother's"
"Wait have you spoken to your mother lately?" She asks me. I look at her and it looks like a bulb has lit up on top of her head.
I shake my head. "Not in about a month, no." I tell her.
She sighs and pulls my drawer open. Curiously, she takes out my phone and begins to tamper with it in a way. What is she up to?
"What are you doing?" I ask her.
She glances at me for a second. "I'm calling your mum." She says casually but I'm panicking.
Milly caught on and distanced the phone away from me. "If there's anyone who knows how to deal with situations like these, it's your mum." She rolls her eyes when she sees the panic in mind.
