This chapter is a bit different. Instead of getting into Meg's thoughts, let's make a switch.
This time, it's Louis' mind we're entering. ENJOY!
LOUIS' POV
My arm was thrown over and I hear a loud bang behind me. I got up and saw Meg kneeling in front of the toilet bowl. Instantly I ran to the bathroom and sat behind her. I pull her to my lap and I felt her shudder at my cold hands. Her head drops on my chest and her eyes close. She's so exhausted she couldn't stay awake.
Slowly, I stood up with Meg in my arms. I put her down on the bed carefully so she doesn't have to wake up. Her morning sickness always wears her off so this is not new. She grabs my arm and wraps it around her waist, muttering something in her sleep that I couldn't understand. Instead, I pull her to my chest and pull her blonde hair out of her face.
She's frowning in her sleep but her features soften a little bit after a while.
Ever since our fight, she could barely look at me. That's normally how it is between us when we get into an argument but that never stops me from caring for her even if she doesn't want me to. Just like earlier. What could have happened if I let her fall off that chair?
She drives me crazy. Stubborn girl, Meg is.
I might have watched her for an hour or more. What else can I do? I couldn't go back to sleep anymore and it's too early to go outside. Glancing at the clock, it says 6:25. I lift her arm up and put a pillow under it. She doesn't stir so I took that opportunity to have my daily morning run.
I pull out a random sweater from the closet and slip it over my head. I went out the door the same time the door of Emily's room open. Tyler walks out, yawning and running a hand through his hair.
"Where you going?" I ask him quietly as I shut the door behind me. He looks up and squints through the light.
"I... I have no idea... Out, I guess." He says, pointing to the stairs.
He scratches his eyes and I had a vague flashback of this kid. 5 years ago, he was just a little kid walking in a massive stadium for his first session with other kids, including Emily. He doesn't look at all different only that he's taller.
"Come with me." I say. He looks confused but I waved him over as I went down the staircase. The living room's still dark and I didn't bother turning the lights on. I grab the house key from the cabinet stepped out of the place. Tyler followed behind me as I shut the door and locking it before leaving.
The cold air hits my face like needles. Winter's finally here, as I can tell. There are little snowflakes falling from the sky and when I look up, nothing's there but thick dull grey clouds.
"Tell me, Tye," I start as we walk around the block. I saw him turn to me from the corner of my eye. "Something on your mind?"
He frowns and suddenly looks uncomfortable. I remember Meg telling he's supposed to talk to Emily about recent events. Well, seeing how occupied he looks, he hasn't even said a hint to her.
"You can say that," he says shrugging. I can tell his conversation's not going anywhere. "Mostly it's... It's about the kid..."
Or maybe because you cheated on Emily. But I wouldn't tell him that.
"All right, I understand," I tell him. "It's not easy being a dad, y'know. It's not a game you play on a whim."
"I was afraid you'd say that." He says in a small voice. "It's been bugging me for ages."
