"You've seen him this morning?" I ask her as we went out of the flat. I had to look down at her now because I'm wearing wedges. Milly and I had to change for dinner, only me actually.
"Definitely. He went to our flat, he had Blaine and broke down." She said, beaming. Like that's supposed to make ma feel better. "He was kind of pissed off but when I was leaving, I swear I heard him say, 'I could have done better'. Yeah."
She unlocks her car and we went in at the same time. She turns the heater on right away and put the music on. I leaned back on my seat, guilty feeling rising all Over myself, when the song played. Ever Enough.
"Are you serious right now?" I groan in frustration. Milly giggles as she pulls into the streets.
"What? It's just a coincidence." She says but she kept laughing so it told me otherwise.
The music drowns down Milly's singing, thankfully. At the same time it makes me just as guilty. There's no way this was a coincidence. She obviously has the song on a CD.
A couple minutes later, Milly parks her car in front of a classy restaurant. I never even knew this restaurant existed if it's just a couple blocks from our home. "Oh! They're here." She beams, pointing at the blue Chevrolet parked near the entrance.
"That's Louis'" I say. Milly lets out a deep sigh and, enthusiastically, shouted, "let's go!"
We entered the restaurant but my eyes were gazing around, looking for a familiar face. There wasn't one, however. Milly's talking to the man at the entrance seriously. Once she's done, she hooks her arm around mine and pulled to the elevator. "He's inside the private dinner room. You've got 2 hours, use it well." She tells me just as the elevator dinged open.
That was quick ride but considering there's only two floors. The second floor is a lot quieter than the ground floor but smaller in space. Milly was already pushing me to the hall before I can take in my surroundings. We stood infront of a black wooden door that's got the golden plaque infront saying 'Private'.
"Have fun!" She beamed before walking away, winking as she descended on the staircase.
I grab the door knob and opened it slowly. Through the small opening, I see that the room is lit dimmer than out here. I push it open fully and see a lone table near the window. I went inside and notice that the walls have got fascinating paintings from abstract to those with minimal content. I sat on the chair and took a peek out the window. I'm not so high up so the view isn't as spectacular but the lights from lower houses make it lovely. The place is so serene and quiet that I could've fallen asleep.
A door opened, making me jump. Louis walked out, wiping his hands on a tissue paper and throwing it in a bin. When he looked up, he looked surprise when he saw me. He didn't say anything as he sat across me.
"Milly talked to you?" He asks, fiddling with the fork. I nod slowly. I looked down at his hands then I notice small cuts on his knuckles. I looked up through my lashes to see him with a tensed up expression.
"She-" I was surprised when he looked up suddenly that it made me stop. I sigh and went on, "She probably put some sense in me like she always does." My voice came out smaller than I thought.
"I think so too," he says, sitting up and running the back of his bruised hand with the other. "Otherwise, I don't think you'd be sitting here with me."
I feel my heart sank at how distant he sounds. 'Don't blame him, this is your fault' said the little voice in my head.
"Louis, please," my voice sounded so desperate. 'You are desperate'. "I understand why you'd still be mad at me. I was being a total bitch, I was inconsiderate and selfish."
