LOUIS' POV
It's been over 3 hours since Meg left the house. By this time, she probably have reached her dad's house. And in all honesty, I'm more nervous for her.A part of me is saying I should follow her and be there for support. Then again another part is telling me I should let her do this on her own. And I hate the latter won. Then I thought that this is what she wants.
I jumped someone starts knocking on the door like a mad man. It didn't take me a second before I went over to open the door. I frown, a little surprised to see Emily standing there.
"Meg's not here?" She asks me, gesturing to the car park with one empty slot.
I shake my head and took a step to the side to let her in. "She had to go somewhere." I say, shutting the door once she's in.
"Oh really? This early?" She asks as she hangs her coat on the coat rack. "You're confused, aren't you?" She asks, smirking at me.
"Maybe a little bit." I admit, making her smile. "I'm just surprised you're here this early. Left something here last time you visited?" I ask her, crossing my arms.
She shakes her head. "No, I just thought I'd...pay a visit." She says but I noticed her hesitating. "Why are you looking at me like that, Louis?"
I shrugged and leaned on the door. Emily's eyeballs move frequently as a sign of discomfort. "Something wrong or is something wrong?" I ask her. "You know, you're just like Meg. You're both terrible liars... Most of the time." I say, correcting myself the last minute. "So spit it out." I say.
Emily bites her lip nervously and crosses her arms. "Well, actually," she starts. There we go, we're finally getting somewhere. "I came here to talk to Meg because something happened this morning at home."
"You're comfortable sharing this with me?" I ask hesitantly because I wouldn't want to intrude. That's why I was relieved when she nods in a very... Okay way. "You're sure?" I ask again.
She rolls her eyes at me as she walks up to me, slapping my arm. "For gods sake, I said I am!" She snaps. I hold my hands up in defeat. Damn, she's mad. "Anyway, you and Meg basically make up one person."
I can't help but laugh, earning a glare from my in-law. "Is that right?" I ask her.
She frowns as she drops her arms. Well, one. Because the other hand she used to scratch her head. I've seen that behaviour before but it was a long time ago. I've seen it once and only once when she couldn't run as well in practice because of an injury the previous day. She was very frustrated, Little Emily.
"Matt and I got in a fight this morning," she says. That's when her voice falters. "It wasn't a big deal but the thing is... Jade saw. She was so frightened, Matt walked out and I had just dropped off school— yeah, I get it. It's too early— then I went straight here. Anyway, he hasn't made any effort of reaching out to me yet and I'm terrified he's going to leave—"
That's when I stop her. "Hey, I think you're overthinking this." I tell her but she simply shakes her head. "Yes, I think that you are. Look, Meg and I have been through shit tons of fights. Your sister drives me crazy sometimes, not going to lie, but because I love her, it never crossed my mind to leave her."
Emily runs a hand through her hair and shakes her head. "I know you're trying to make a point, Louis, I know you are. It's just," she pauses like she's trying to find the right words. "Not everyone is like you. Matt is different and you both deal with these things differently. And you and Meg are married. Matt and I.... We're not."
I frowned. "No." She snaps at me. "Don't tell me it doesn't make a difference because it does! He can just leave me any day because we're not bound by anything—"
