Consequences

Over the next week the outrage at being quarantined over soul bonds spread throughout the interwebs. It was easy enough to track where people were finding that their soul bonds were changing their lives, and not always for the best. Like I thought, many relationships wound up broken, some for the better. A few lucky ones found that they had married or were currently dating their soul bonded, but these are outliers, not the average.

At first it seemed scary that soul bonding activated at puberty, but the families involved realized that it didn't need to be sexual if they promoted them being close friends daily. A sigh of relief was had by parents world wide over that understanding.

Some families didn't want their child to associate with their soul bonded, and a few children died in terrible pain at first. It was worse in religiously strict communities, but even they had to get over their social issues and accept what being soul bonded meant if they wanted to thrive... though there's one or two that have decided to stick to their so-called moral high ground and keep to their strict ways, creating more of those unnecessary and torturous deaths. International rescues are ongoing for those who are from those nations and want to escape.

Someone in ARMY put two and two together and realized that BTS was the progenitor of the wide spread soul bonding, accidentally leaking it to a public forum. That day we were told that even if the quarantine lifted we were to stay in place. BigHit, now HYBE, was worried that there would be a serious backlash if they were seen in public.

The guys took it hard. Each one of them is a performer, an entertainer. To tell them they can't show off for their fans put each of them in a funk. For several days I took on the roll of emotional support while I helped them refocus to find better things to be happy about.

It took them getting mail to realize that they had options. When they had all worn themselves down to the bone practicing Hoseok got it into his head to ask BigHit/HYBE for their fan mail so that they could go through it and answer some.

It had been a while since they'd had time to get a load of mail from the company, so when it came in it took some sorting. Most of it was from just before and during their tour, so that got separated out and portioned out to each member.

The mail that was from them being home onwards, during the quarantine, really hit home to them, heck to me, what the fans thought of them and of this.

'This one is aleumdaun!' Jimin gasped, eyes red from his almost non stop weeping.

I look at Namjoon, concerned. 'Beautiful.' He says simply, going to look over Jimin's shoulder.

'Can you read it to us?' I ask.

'If I do that then I will wind up reading out loud every letter here.' His deadpan expression tells me he's not interested in straining his voice doing that.

'Here, why don't you add translating a letter to your language lessons? Take this and try it. I promise you'll have an easier time.' Yoongi offers me a letter on written on lilac paper with big scrawled letters, obviously a letter from a younger fan.

'Good idea! Let's find the letters from the youngest fans and set them aside for Y/N to translate!' Taehyung enthusiastically jumps on the idea, giving the letter he had opened to Seokjin as he wades through the bags of mail to the opened letters, intent on working on that. Seokjin just shakes his head, a letter in each hand, and goes back to appreciating their fans.

'Actually, of the letters that have been sent since the quarantine, what were the main topics?' I ask, watching Jimin break down over another letter, Hoseok this time reaching over to hug his shoulders in comfort.

'Let me sort them!' Jungkook all but shouts, jumping up from the floor, now curious about what I asked.
