Faux Expert(s)

When Namjoon and Seokjin finally got off the phones it was after lunchtime. Taehyung had called for some takeaway to be delivered, so cleanup was mostly about trash and not dishes. 

That left me and Taehyung with little to do. The perverted twins took over the empty half of the main room to continue working on their cover of Youth, Yoongi went into a studio with Namjoon and a bunch of food so that they could figure out whatever he was on the phone about, and Seokjin and Jungkook went to work out in the exercise room.   

'Hey, can you help me with my hair?' Taehyung asked.

I jerked to a halt, my eyes widening as I turn to look at him, shocked. 'Me??' 

He chuckled. 'Yes, despite that querulous tone in your voice, I mean you.'

'NonoNOno, and heck no!' I reply, shaking my head strongly. 'I want nothing to do with touching any of BTS's hair. I would get mUrDeReD by ARMY if I did so!' Taking a step back I stumble and fall back, the armrest of the couch taking my knees out from behind.

Laughing at my backflop onto the couch, Taehyung moved to help me up. 'I promise they won't. We even do our own hair sometimes. You've seen Jin-Hyung and JK's V-lives about doing their own hair, right?'

'Yeah, but that's them doing it themselves. Not only is ARMY going to be absolutely fine with whatever you guys decide to do for yourselves, but you have had stylist noonas to educate you on this stuff even a little bit over the years. I've never even touched scissors unless it was to cut paper or to cook, and me and coloring only has happened with paper being the medium.' I continue to protest, firmly not wanting to go along with whatever he has planned.

Rubbing the back of his neck, he thinks hard. 'I know my hair is getting longer than I prefer, so are some of the other guys. I'm assuming they've tried contacting a couple of stylist noonas for help, or at least advise.' Looking at my frown he sighs. 'Hold on.' ...and jogs down the hall to a door and knocks.

When it opens instead of just walking in he just leans in and starts talking rapidly. After a few muffled replies he leans back, grinning and steps back, waiting for someone to leave the room.

'No. No. No. oh, and No.' I keep replying. 'You can do whatever you want to your hair, I'm having nothing to do with cutting it, coloring it, perming it, or anything else.'

'It's expediency and efficiency that makes having 4 set ups going at a time a good idea, and then we can switch out. I'll do Jimin-ssi's bleaching, nothing too drastic, then trim up the sides into an undercut. He can do my buzzed undercut and trim the back of my neck.' JK suggests. 'Namjoon-Hyung can handle buzzers at least, so he's offered to do Hobi-Hyung's hair, getting it shorter on the sides. Hobi-Hyung wants to do his own color later, so everyone is absolutely fine with RM just helping with the trim. RM-Hyung wants his color back to black, and the bangs and sides shortened. Hobi-Hyung is okay with doing that.'

The guys mentioned so far nod, agreeing to this plan.

'I can do Taehyung's perm and color, no problem. I've done it for him before, so it'll be easy.' Yoongi adds in. 'Tae can trim my hair back. It keeps flopping into my eyes, annoying me, so I need it done, and he's actually a decent trimmer, steady hands and all that.'

'You've seen what I can do with scissors, Y/N. The whole world has. And while it didn't dim my handsomeness any, it's always helpful to have someone else with a better viewpoint doing it.' Seokjin pleads.

'Yoongi just said Taehyung has steady hands and is decent at it. Why can't he just cut your hair instead? Why me?' I ask.

'If I want to get the perm done in a decent time frame he needs to go first.' Yoongi responds to me. 'His perm and color are going to take the longest, and while I'm going afterwards it'll be close to dinner, possibly after, that he'll be done and get to start on me. Jin's already planning what he'll cook for dinner, so he needs to be able to get into the kitchen while the rest of us are working on each other's hair.'

'This isn't a good idea. I've never cut hair before. I've never even tried with my own hair, I just let it grow until I find a stylist I like, and even then it's probably only once or twice a year I get it cut.' Fingering the not yet split ends of my fairly long hair, I put up a pause finger and consider the timing and request.

'So Jimin and Jungkook are color and cut, plus cut. Namjoon and Hoseok are two cuts and one color, with Hoseok going to color his own hair after the cut, so on par with the first two. Yoongi and Taehyung are color and perm plus cut, so actually a bit more then the other pairs.' I pause, considering the timing. 'And Seokjin just wants a cut. I don't need anything myself, so that gives him a lot of lead-time for prepping and cooking dinner.' Looking at Seokjin finally, my doubt plain on my face I consider. 'You know it's possible it might be worse than your attempt during the v-live, right?'

'You'll actually be able to see the straight lines I couldn't, so I doubt it, but even if it does turn out close to that, it'll still grow out, and the stylist noonas, when we finally can get back to them, can fix whatever they feel they need to.' Seokjin replies solemnly... then laughs. 'You're taking this too seriously! It's just hair!' The guys grin at his attempt to make me smile... which he succeeds in, even if it's rueful.

'Yeah, but there's an actual profession based on cutting hair. I have always respected those who follow a profession because of their passion for it.' They nod understanding. 'Fine, I'll cut your hair Seokjin. Just don't say I didn't warn you after!' My finger waving at his laughing face cause the rest to break into laughter as well.
