Conductors and Transitions

Day three starts with the phones being busy.

Namjoon conferences with HYBE about their production and training levels.

Dr Choi gets updates from the company contracted to assess the samples provided.

After breakfast and going over the collected data thus far Yoongi and Seokjin weigh in on how to test the electrical reaction to our soul bond.

It's decided that I will be handed a phone at almost dead (read at 3% capacity) and not to touch or be within arms length of any of the guys until lunch. After lunch I am to sit next to one of the guys, not quite touching, for the first two hours. The next two hours  I am to hold hands with one of them. The two hours after that I am to allow as many of the guys as possible to touch me while I hold the phone. The phone will be checked every hour until sunset.

To get a good reading this will be done in the same manner by two of the guys the next day as well. Of course there's a competition to see who will be chosen.

Seokjin and Taehyung win, making the rest grumble good-naturedly.

Until they realize they will need to be away from everyone until after lunch. 

The two chasing down their group mates , begging them to trade and take the test for them, is honestly hilarious. Namjoon running to his office, quickly followed by Yoongi sprinting for his as they're chased has even the doctor clutching his stomach in guffaws. 

To be expected, Jimin is collapsed and gasping on the floor, Hoseok is dodging Taehyung, and Jungkook is putting his dodging-boxing skills to good use against Seokjin.

In the end they accept their job and the doctor gets to continue on with his tests.

I sit in a club chair near the window wall, holding it in one hand while I read a fanfic on my laptop. I use a digital pencil to swipe the screen to remove the chance that static electricity will add to any effect I might be creating with the phone.

By lunch the phone's battery is a two percent and it's obvious I'm not charging it. So, on to the next stage. 

I'm next sitting on the couch next to Yoongi both of us on our laptops. He's working on fixing some beat with headphones on while I switch to my third fanfiction of the day.

To be fair, the first one was a reread, and the second one is only sixty plus chapters, not yet finished.. so easy reads.

This one seems to be more erotic, so i'm trying to not be obvious with my reactions.

After looking up for the third time to see Yoongi lifting an eyebrow while reading over my shoulder I give up the ghost and go to another reread, one of the guys being hybrids. Still smutty, just not so fifty shades.

Each check of the phone has it still at two percent, so after the third check of it being the same we go to physical contact.

This time I have Seokjin watching cat videos with me, our hands entwined. The first check shows that the battery jumped to almost 20 percent in one hour, and when I drink a large glass of water and go back to watching videos with him he calls for Jungkook to bring two more glasses over. 

By the next hour we've both finished off our waters and the battery has jumped to fifty percent.

The third stage is implemented, and a cuddle fest happens. I wind up sitting on Namjoon's lap as the maknae line and Hoseok surround us on the couch. Hoseok hold my right hand, Jimin rubs my feet on the floor, Taehyung plays with my fingers on my left hand, and Hoseok brushes the side of my face Namjoon isn't pressing his cheek to so that he can look at the book while I read to them.

Namjoon holds the book for me, turning as I need.

Honestly, I wonder just how much the other four are getting as I'm reading in english, but they're all silent and focused as I speak. Jimin occasionally hands me a glass of water to help me when my throat gets dry, but otherwise they're letting me read to them.

No, none of the fanfics. A classic: Black Beauty.

I was horse crazy as a kid... trite I know. Oh well. It's the truth.

By the end of the first hour the phone is at one hundred percent, so I'm handed as many phones at low battery as I can have on me (they're all documented at a starting percentage before handing them to me).

The second hour continues the same as the first, me going through three more large glasses of water, and by the end of the second hour all the phones are charged up to full as well.

My eyes itch and are dry as fuck, but I'm used to that with my allergies.

Seokjin and Yoongi made soup for dinner, which makes my grateful smile reach my eyes.

Those two weren't able to really listen in to the story as I read, so the guys take turns filling them in on the plot of the story thus far.

Occasionally Namjoon has to correct one of the maknaes in their understanding of what was happening, but I am surprised as how much they got. Their english classes online are doing more for them than I expected.

The next day Seokjin and Taehyung get sequestered in their own rooms with a low battery phone until lunch.

Their results are the same as mine.

The first hour of close association is closely monitored, and again they have no change in results.

The change in results happens when they start the single contact section. 

Seokjin lounges on the same couch as Yoongi, their bare feet touching. I do the same on another couch with Taehyung, and at the end of the first hour there's no increase for the phone Seokjin is holding, but Taehyung's phone shows the same results as I had yesterday.

This makes the doctor make some changes to the next step in the testing. 

I sit, between them, and the rest of the guys stay away.

The second hour shows the same marked increase in Taehyung's phone, and the initial rise in Seokjin's. 

I quickly go and drink a large glass of water before the next round of tests, my throat dry and hot.

The group touching section is somewhat chaotic. I am again sitting between Seokjin and Taehyung, with the maknaes sitting with Seokjin and the rap line sitting with Taehyung. The way the maknaes tease the older four because they're bored almost has them accidentally breaking off occasionally. Thankfully they listen when the doctor asks them to settle down.

At some point the doctor gets up, closes the curtains, and turns off the lights.

Our glow is so bright Dr Choi is shocked to find he can read by it. 

The last hour plus of the test is recorded on video, the glow clearly showing up on the screen when reviewed.

By the end of the day we're all drinking water like we're fish.

Dr Choi noticed this and decided to note it in the study.

He's taking notes on further tests that could be done to check the reaction we're having, but he doesn't have the time or clearance to do them right now. Voltage testers, multimeters, skin volt testing... I'm sure he'll look up even more options later.

In the end he has been able to confirm and document the reaction, and the need for water to support our bodies while doing... whatever it is.

After the doctor leaves for his place for the night the guys round on me and ask for me to continue reading to them.

The freestanding fireplace gets lit and popcorn is poured into multiple bowls as we settle in for a good five chapters more of reading before I beg off and drink some hot water with lemon before bed.
