Mason's POV
My head lifted as I heard the front door close. I shut the door to the dresser and rushed through the hallway to meet my brother who had just reached the top of the stairway.
His face was confused with one eyebrow up staring at me as I approached. "You want to tell me why you're naked."
I was only wearing underwear and honestly didnt have an answer to give him but that wasnt my main focus at the moment. "I know you know what happened to Stacey, so tell me."
"You've gots to be kidding me." He said as he tried to walk around me.
At this point I was fed up. I placed my foot out and pushed him from behind so that he tripped over my feet. "If you don't tell me we're gonna have to fight."
"What the fuck, why don't you just ask Stacey?" He struggled to get of the floor.
"How the hell am I going to ask somebody who wont answer my messages?"
"You know where she lives."
Does this man take me for a fool. We've only seen Bridget's house. We've always seen Bridget's house but never Stacey's. "Unless Stacey lives with Bridget how the hell do you expect me to know where she lives?"
I watched as my brother avoided eye contact.
"Wait. She lives with Bridget?"
He started walking towards his room.
I pulled on his shoulder. "Why does she live with Bridget?"
He just continued walking.
I stopped him in his tracks. "Answer me."
"She's homeless. Ok."
"What?" I stood there in disbelief
"Don't worry I already offered them a place to stay and they rejected."
"Them?"
"You know Stacey would never come without her."
Bridget's POV
"He's been asking for you." I stood in the kitchen where my best friend was washing dishes. She had basically become our maid these past few weeks as she didnt want my parents to think she was adding additional stress to thier lives.
"I've told him that I was fine." She stayed in the same position.
"So have we." I angled myself on the barstool.
"Ok. So what's the problem."
"Maybe the fact that he doesn't believe us."
She paused all motion. "How is that my problem. With all the problems I have right now you think I'm stupid enough to add another one."
I guess not everything that's bad has a bad reason behind it. "I found a place for you."
"I already told you I'm not living with them."
"It's not with them. They recently built the building to help the lower waged."
She remained silent.
"It's close to school. That's where I found the flyer." That sentence finally got her to turn around and the smile I grew was helpless.
