Into Exile I Must Go

June 2nd, 2033

"Step away from Joy you weirdo!" Ward Meacham demanded

Danny Rand could recognize Ward Meachum even as an adult. His hair was slicked back and his face stern just like it was all those years ago. Danny wasn't surprised by Ward's aggressive turn of action. Joy on the other hand looked different and her reaction was unexpected to him. She wasn't the happy young girl that would play silly games while her and Danny's parents talked business with important Imperial officials. She huddled behind Ward and Danny's look of pleading did nothing to eliminate Joy's fear and concern. Danny put up his hands but their was a pained look on his face. Ward continued to hold Danny at blaster point and Danny tried again to reason with his old family friends.

"Ward, it's me Danny. We grew up together. Your parents and my parents were like siblings and we all were one big family. Rand Enterprises is my home. I remember the times you punched me in the arm during long car rides. I remember Joy and I would convince her dad to buy us a bag of M&M's if we behaved ourselves and we'd throw away the red ones. " Danny pleaded

There was a brief reaction of recognition from Joy but she quickly shook her head.

"My best friend Danny was killed in an airship crash over a mountain range in Far East Asia." Joy said quivering

"They never found the body because I survived. Monks from the Order of the Crane mother took me in. They buried my father in K'Un L'Un and wolves ate my mother. Joy I'm begging you. We are friends and I came back to protect you and Ward."

Joy remained silent still unconvinced the barefoot smelly man in rags standing before her was Danny Rand.

"Where in the galaxy is my special operations team? There's a situation in my office that needs to be handled!" Ward screamed into a comm link

Ward tightened the grip on his blaster pistol when he yelled, "What do you mean there's a second breach?"

"Joy I need to handle this situation. Here. Take the blaster and shoot him if he even moves one inch. I still have questions but something more pressing is happening in the research and development offices downstairs."

"Ward maybe this is Danny? This guy has a point, a body was never found from that airship crash." Joy argued

"The Empire searched for the Rand family for seven days and they didn't find a body. Seven days with the most advanced technological equipment known to man and they didn't find any of them. I'm pretty sure this homeless man was a distraction for insurgent activity of some kind. Keep your comm link on and I'll radio you if anything happens." Ward told Joy

Before Joy could protest Ward was gone and Danny tried to rack his brain to say something that would convince Joy to believe him.

"Nuke. I need you to appraise me of the situation. Don't worry you're communicating with me on a closed channel." Ward said as he walked to the elevators

"I found out the source of the breach. It's an elite squad of Rebels who call themselves the Spectres." Nuke answered

"Well what in the galaxy is their objective?" Ward asked exasperated

"It looks like they're stealing information on experimental data on new projects. I see their droid at a terminal so I'm close to capturing them."

"If you wanna get paid you better stop them." Ward threatened before ending contact with Nuke

Ward entered the area where he spotted an old Clone Wars era astromech droid. It was jacked into a server terminal in a room with a half dozen terminals and a large computer monitor on the wall to the left. Ward pulled out a blaster from his inner coat pocket and aimed it at the droid. Before he could pull the trigger his blaster flew away from him. Ward came face to face with a Jedi with short blue hair weilding a green lightsaber.
Nuke fired a blaster that wrapped the Jedi in a tight 5 strand rope and he lost control of his lightsaber. Nuke then attempted to shoot the Jedi but he somehow managed to move one of the servers as a shield to protect himself from the blaster bolts.
