"She didn't sob or wail. Her grief was horribly discreet but as persistent and almost as silent as bleeding from an unstitched wound."

I wake up barely able to keep my eyes open. I bring my hand to my head feeling a wet substance hit my finger tips.

I bring my hand in front of my vision and see blood.

I quickly sit up, looking at the wall and see my blood painting across it.

Memories of last night flood through my mind.

I knew dropping the beer would be a consequence but my sisters life was more valuable then stupid beer bottles.

I crawl to the window and look outside.

His car is gone, he isn't here.

I released a breath I didn't even know I was holding.

I hold onto the wall to help me stand up. I ignore the pain and walk towards my bathroom, still avoiding going into my room.

I grab a random outfit from the bathroom and quickly change. I brush my teeth and pull my hair into a loose, low ponytail. I don't even bother to check how deep the cut is. My head already hurts enough and I have a long shift at work. But if Devin sees my head he will probably just send me home.

I shrug my shoulders, ignoring my own thoughts. I walk out of the house and start walking towards school.

As I approach my locker, I see Maggie leaning against it with her arms crossed over her chest.

I prepare the best smile as I walk up to her. "Hey, Maggie!"

"Hey, Camilla! How did work go yesterday?"

"Great! Did the usual. Restock, watch fights and wait till someone needs to go to the infirmary."

"Do you work on Friday?"

"Yeah. I do, why?"

"One of my close friends, as I told you, is a fighter there. He is going to be fighting on Friday and I was going to come."

We switch places as I open my locker. "Oh! You should, I mean I will be working but you can watch the fight with me in the back or by the infirmary."

The bell rings as soon as I close my locker.

"Sounds like a plan. Now let's be the good students we are and go to class!"

I shake my head and laugh.

We both take off to our first period.

~*~*~*

After 5th period is lunch. I quickly ran out of the class to find a tree to sit under.
