"You are not a victim. Just a fighter with scars, that few will understand."

✰✰✰

It's been two days since I walked away from Keaton in the parking lot.

Maggie found me going back to my house and she begged me to go home with her. So, that is where I have been the past couple of days.

And her family is the absolute sweetest.

The reason I won't tell anyone about my dad or the reason I won't let anyone over is that my dad will ruin them at a snap of his fingers. Just to get back at me. He will hurt them in imaginable ways. In ways, I could never describe in words.

Keaton and I haven't talked in two days. I think it's because I haven't been I school but at the same time, I highly doubt that's the reason.

Today is main event and apparently, Erica will be fighting tonight. I never pictured her as a fighter so we will see how this goes down.

Little did I know, she wasn't there to fight. But I didn't even know she was going to be there until I got to the boxing arena later tonight.

"Cami!" Maggie yells running into her room.

"What?" I snap, sitting up.

"Good morning," she says, smiling.

"You evil little person!"

"Time to get up! You only have school today then we work main event."

I groan, throwing my head back on the pillow.

Maggie grabs both my ankles and pulls me to the ground. "Come on sleepy pants, time for school!"

I slowly stand up. "Never wake up a grumpy Cami."

Maggie laughs. "Let me go get you and outfit, go do your bathroom routine."

"Okay," I say, turning around towards the bathroom.

I quickly brush my teeth and brush my hair. I throw my hair up into a high messy bun before walking out of Maggie's bathroom.

"Here are leggings and a maroon crop top with a red and black flannel." Maggie smiles, handing me an outfit.

I grab it before setting it on her bed. I throw my arms around her tightly.

Maggie is taken aback for a moment before hugging me back.

"Thank you. You have no idea how much it means to me for you to do all of this for me," I said.

"Cami, you are my best friend now. I would do anything for you."

We pull apart and I go get dressed.

After, Maggie and I both go into the kitchen to eat breakfast with her parents.

"Good morning Mr and Mrs Parsons," I say with a smile.

"Good morning honey!" Mrs. Parsons says, cheerfully.

Maggie and I both sat at the table as her dad brought over the pancakes.

After we ate, we both got into Maggie's car and head to Oakwood View.

"Just thought I should tell you," Maggie starts looking in my direction, "Keaton has seemed...worried?"

I furrow my eyebrows, "worried about what?"

Maggie clears her throat. "About you."

I turn towards her direction. "Why would he be worried about me? That doesn't make any sense."

Maggie sighs. "He said before you walked away from the arena that you were trying to protect him from something. In which, you weren't paying attention to your safety."

I lean back against the seat. "It's not just him. I'm protecting all of you. That is why I can't tell anyone."

"Cami, you can always talk to us."

"I know I can Mags, but, I can't risk putting the only good things in my life at risk. You three are the closest I have to family and even as much as I can't stand Keaton at times, I would still protect him."

Maggie smiles. "Because you are in love with him."

I look the other way. "Says the one who is in love with his best friend."

"I'm not in love with Adrian! We are friends now!"

I laugh as Maggie parks into the school.

We get out of the car and start to head towards the locker building.

I walk up to my locker and open the dial. I exchange the books I don't need for the ones I do. Once I'm done, I close my locker, locking the dial.

"You ready for first hour?" Maggie asks, playfully.

I roll my eyes, "nope. But what do we got to lose?"

"Our grades."

I laugh as we both head to class.

~*~*~*

"I told you we had something to lose," Maggie taunts as we drive towards the boxing arena.

I raise my hands in surrender. "And who's the one who suggested doing the test together?"

"Hey! It was a group test. We just have been too busy with stuff to study."

"No teacher would believe that."

Maggie scoffs. "That sucks for them."

"It sucks for us," I laugh.

Maggie shakes her head as she pulls into her parking spot at the arena.

I notice how the cloud look like it's about to let out a big storm. It hasn't rained in a while.

We both get out and walk towards the locker room.

I quickly get changed and clip my ID onto my shirt.

"I'm going to go check the fights for tonight real quick," I tell Maggie before walking out of the locker room.

"Okay! I will wait in the infirmary!" She yells back.

I walk up to the manager for tonight and he hands me a clip board of the fights.

Fight one: Adrian Kennedy and Erica Hobbs.

What!

Erica is a fighter here too?

Adrian would beat her in seconds... there is no way she could have been that good to have made it into main event.

I shake my head from the thoughts as I handed the manager the clipboard.

I walk over to the infirmary to see Maggie starting to restock.

"Is it okay if I try to restock on my own? I want to try to get a hang of it." Maggie asks.

"Of course! I will be waiting outside." I tell her before walking out.

I look outside and see the pouring rain cover the windows of the boxing arena.

The rain falls to the ground. The rain cascades down the window, almost like painting a picture.

The rain creates a faint, calming noise. Almost calming my nerves against Erica fighting tonight.

I lean against outside of the infirmary walls, staring at the open windows of the arena.

I look in my perpetual vision and see Keaton walking in my direction. He could be walking in the infirmary to talk to Maggie, but I have a feeling he isn't.

"Camilla, we need to talk."
