"I don't know, it's just tiring. Why can't he accept my decision? It's not like we were really dating anyway.."
Seohyun sighed and took her glasses off, leaning back to get more comfortable as she listened to Yuri's complaints. Her friend had called her right when she was about to finish translating another document for a client, immediately starting to babble about a so-called 'break up' with a guy who she had met on the internet not too long ago. The woman didn't even have a chance to ask if they could talk later, since Yuri constantly interrupted her whenever she tried to form a sentence. She was furious, and Seohyun figured it'd be better to let her calm down first. And now, after almost thirty minutes of listening, it finally seemed liked she was allowed to say something too.
"I don't see the problem. Yeah, he's an idiot but why not just block him? He lives in another country, and you guys started texting each other a few weeks ago."
"I know, but he keeps making provocative remarks!"
She rolled her eyes. "You're way too old for this, Yuri. It's just childish. Block him and move on. It's not your fault if he started imagining things. Maybe he's just desperate and went crazy when a woman finally answered his messages?"
"I told him that too, but he won't stop blaming me. Ugh, whatever. You're right, it's not worth it. What a shame. I really liked him, as a friend I mean."
"Thank you!" Seohyun closed her eyes, relieved that the arguing would finally stop. Now, she could quickly finish work and go to bed.
"Okay okay, I won't bother you with my love life."
"I'll see you tomorrow, alright?" She chuckled, reaching out for a biscuit, "Don't be late!"
"Oh yeah, about that- I need to go to the jewelry store, to pick up my order. Can we meet up an hour later?"
"It's fine, I'll just come with you."
"Really?"
"Yeah. A new ring or maybe a necklace would be nice, I don't know," she stated, taking a bite.
"But why, though? Didn't you like the one Jungkook gave you?"
Seohyun stopped chewing. The call went completely silent.
"Seo?"
"What do you mean?" She asked, frowning, "What ring?"
"Well, his surprise and- hm, I just told you, so I guess it's no longer a surprise. But I met him at the jeweler a few days ago. He said he bought you a present."
"I never got one."
"That's weird. He should have given it to you by now. Didn't you guys go on a date?"
"Yes. And today we had dinner together."
"And you're not planning another one or..?"
"No, not at all. The last date would've been the perfect opportunity for him to give me a present," Seohyun uttered, sitting up straight, "But he didn't. Are you sure the gift was for me?"
"Yes, Jungkook said it himself! He mentioned not celebrating your anniversary properly or something like that. And who else is he gonna buy a diamond ring for, huh?"
The younger shrugged, even though she knew Yuri couldn't see it. "I don't know, it's confusing. Maybe he forgot?"
"What? No, you wouldn't forget to give someone a ring, the jewelry store is extremely expensive! I know you guys are millionaires, but Jungkook definitely knows how to appreciate the worth of a diamond. Especially if he wanted to make you happy."
