         NEOMA CHUCKLED. “Well, isn’t this just getting a little more interesting? Unfortunately, I don’t have any intentions of fighting either of you.”

She took a step back, raising her hands in defense. She smirked a little, shrugging her shoulders. Gen moved towards Itadori, eyeing Neoma in the corner of his gaze. He moved the blade to the side, jumping up to the rafter Itadori was chained to. He unhooked the chains, making them clatter to the floor loudly. He dropped down, helping the boy onto his feet. 

“Why are you doing this to us, Neoma?” Gen demanded. 

“Oh I don’t want to kill the two of you,” She said, slipping her hands in her pockets. “And I know that if my little sister snaps, I won’t be able to kill her. I’m just using the two of you. The reason neither of you have any of your cursed energy, is because I’m holding it. Without it, both of you are useless to me. You were just the bait.”

She moved towards the door, opening it. “And I don’t need you anymore. Y/n should be here any moment now. I’ve taken the curtain down, so she can finally track the both of you. It won’t be too much longer until they realize what I’ve done.” She hummed. “So, you’re both free to go.”

“This is a trap,” Itadori said. 

“It’s your only chance,” She grinned, shrugging. “You can choose not to go. I won’t stop you either way. But...they only have so long.”

“What are you talking about?” Gen frowned. 

She took her hand from her pocket. She opened her palm, letting the golden cross necklace slip through her fingers, and the silver-banded ring clatter to the floor. Gen felt his eyes widen. 

That was his mother’s necklace. 

And that was Naomi’s ring.

“Gen!” Itadori exclaimed, surprised as the boy darted forward. “Gen, stop! She’s tricking you!”

He ignored him. Itadori cursed and chased after him. He called his name, running to catch up with him. He grabbed Gen, making him stop. 

“Gen, it’s just a trap!”

“I don’t care!” He exclaimed. “She has my mother, Yuu! She has Naomi! They don’t have cursed energy!”

“Gen--Gen! Stop!”

“Mom!” Gen yelled. “Naomi!”

“Gen, stop!” 

He burst through the doors. Both of their eyes widened. Gen breathed out shakily, looking to Itadori, who held the same amount of shock as he did.
