A TOUCH OF THE PAST

It would be expected for her to feel like a complete mess after the amount of alcohol she had last night, but she was more than just fine, her body already being used to this kind of things, ever since she first stepped into that one corner store with the broken glass, trying to forget and drown her sorrows into the bitter taste.

"Is it heavy?" the kids never seemed to stop bothering her

"No" but she always made sure to be very hostile towards them, in hopes of being left alone

"Do you sharpen it often? It seems in good shape" Nobara asked all curious as she eyes the blade

"None of your business"

"Y/N-chan, don't be so unkind. She does sharpen it often otherwise it won't be able to cut through rough surfaces, also it is quite heavy for a normal person who's not used to holding a weapon its size, but the years of training and experience make it rather easy for her to handle" Gojo answers their questions in her place

He came out of nowhere, always making an appearance when it was least needed or wanted, but she got used to it, somehow.

"Wow, that's amazing Y/N! Can I hold it?" Itadori asked with hope in his eyes

"No"

"Just for a bit! I promise not to hurt myself" he whined like a little kid

"If a single strand of your hair touched it in any way, i'll make sure to use it to cut you in half"

"Scary" Gojo said playfully as he watched his students back away in disappointment

He would lie if he would say that he was bot curious of her words that remain unspoken, but he also knew that he had to keep his cool. It was not like she would disclose anything to him anyway, not like this.

"What do you want?" she asked him as he was simply standing there, without a word

"Taking the first step to our conversation. Rather interesting to see you in this position" he smiled at her

"Piss off"

Y/N started walking away, wanting to keep the walking headache as far away from her as possible, but he kept following. It was kind of funny if you thought of it, she wasted her teen years following him so hardly and closely that she lost herself on the way, now he was following her, but she was still unaware of what he was chasing.

"Can't we ever have a normal conversation?" he complained as he caught up to her

The fact was that they never really had a normal conversation, if there was such a term. Maybe the only time they both felt like nothing was expected from them was the day of his graduation, where the only string he had of her was the piece of fabric he still wore wrapped around his eyes like a memory, a memory of a feeling he was incapable of realising.

"Define normal conversation Satoru" she stopped in her track, turning to face the man

"Anything that doesn't end with you cursing me or one where you actually talk back" he scoffed

"Do we even have something to talk about?" she was tired of it

She never wanted to come back to this place, to this town, to this man. Yet here she was, facing her worst and greatest fear, his presence, or if she was honest, how it made her feel. No matter how hard she tried, her heart kept racing each time she saw him, heard him, talked to him...it was annoying. But in all truth she loved him.

"Of course" he said firmly

Gojo wasn't prepared for what was coming, but neither was she.

"Really? Talk about what more exactly? How you played around with me while you were aware of my feelings for you? Or maybe you would like to talk about how you fucked me in every single way possible. Oh wait, I know. You wanna maybe talk about the fact that you're marrying my sister?" her tone was raising by each word she was spitting, anger showing off

"You're jealous" was all he could respond

"Jealous? Why would I be jealous?" she looked into his blue orbs from behind the cloth "You don't even exist to me!" she yelled at him before she stormed off

Gojo didn't follow her this time, instead he stayed back to process her words, not aware of the tears that rolled down her face, for the first time in 6 years, tears that were showing a pain much deeper than a bloody wound.

"Maybe you should leave her alone" the blonde man exhaled as he sipped from his bitter coffee

Gojo decided that he needed to give her some space, that he was clearly disturbing the woman in some way or another, thing that he didn't like to be aware of. But choosing to have coffee with Nanami might have been a mistake, as he heard what his friend had to say.

"She doesn't seem to want your company and you're harassing her at this point"

Nanami had a point and Gojo knew that, but he was still feeling like it was not as easy as it sounded to be.

"What do you even want from her? It has been years and I'm pretty sure there are plenty of women out there to satisfy your needs"

The man didn't know what to answer as he was not sure of that either.

"I don't know, I guess I just wanted to talk with her"he sighed

"Gojo, she was nothing more but one of the many girls you screwed with in highschool, maybe you should let it go"

"Come on, we are ex.." he took a small break

"Ex what? You have never dated" he almost laughed

"We are ex somethings and that should be something" he whined

"Gojo, let Y/N alone. You're not helping her, just give up, will you? She had a rough life as it is, don't make it more unfortunate with your annoying personality" Nanami placed his empty cup down, reaching for his wallet

"You say all those nasty things about me, yet you're still my friend. What a weird way of showing your affection Nanami-kun" he joked around

You need to do something more than twice for it to become a habit, but in all honesty more than a habit, it felt like a reassurance of a lie he was holding onto.

She was looking at peace, with her eyes closed and her face relaxed, her small breaths were enough to let him know that she was having a peaceful dream and that no nightmare was preying onto her fragile mind.

His slender fingers put away a strand of her (h/c) hair, one that was draped gently over her face.

"When I watch you sleep" he said shakily "I feel overwhelmed that you exist"
