BITTER SWEET FAMILY GATHERING

Watching from afar nothing seemed to be changed, the gate was covered in rust and the roof had a few patches here and there, but these were all mere signs of the time passing, nothing more. It was almost sad if you thought about it, so many things happened, yet none of them seemed to affect the house of L/N.

She clicked her tongue as memories unconsciously flooded her mind, reminiscing her rough patched up childhood in what she liked to call, the house of horrors. There was no room for the word family between the thick walls of the house, the only thing that mattered was the pride they hold onto their names and the way everyone else perceived them. Disgusting. It was truly disgusting, but it was not her burden to carry anymore, she didn't have anything to share with them, only a blood bond anyone can renegade.

Hoping from the branch, she landed right on the other side of the gate. She wanted to get inside without certain fellows knowing of her presence, she was not planning on turning this into a family gathering, after all, she was not welcomed there anymore.

"You always thought you were so slick when you sneaked out" a derogatory voice snickers "I assume you were the one who kept him from answering my calls, Y/N" she said her name with such spite

Yuki was standing in the doorway, a loose kimono barely covering her body, certainly she was not expecting to have any visitors, let alone her.

"You're lucky I didn't call anyone. If father knew you were here..." she started laughing

Despite her confident act, Yuki was trembling in fear, she was lucky to spot her sister jumping inside, otherwise she feared she might not have been able to protect herself. She was not aware of the reason of her sudden appearance, but she was aware of how dangerous it was.

"Call anyone you want, but I doubt you would like for that pretty little dress of yours to get stained. It looks rather knew" she said keeping her stoic tone and expression

Clearing her throat, Yuki looked around the place, trying to not make it obvious that she was looking for an escape, if that would have been necessary.

"You're all talk" she clicked her tongue "Why are you here?" she couldn't help but eye the shine of her blade, peaking from her clothes

The truth was Y/N kept asking herself the same question on her way. Why was she really going back there? What was she going to do once she sees her sister again? She was aware that Yuki wouldn't understand if she simply told her, she was not that kind of person after all. But was she really ready to do it?

"I think I didn't make myself clear enough" she pulled her katana out, threatening the life of her sibling "Or maybe you have suicidal thoughts? Poor Yuki" she mocked her sister

Fear started taking over the other woman, as the blade was merely inches away from her neck, threatening her life in any moment, but her bad habits didn't seem to back away, not even in a moment like this.

"You won't do it. Not even someone as monstrous as you would have the guts to kill their own sibling" but she spoke too soon

"Lady Yuki?" a female voice shouted in shock from the other side

In the blink of an eye, the sharp blade of her weapon slithered lightly the skin of Yuki's neck, leaving a thin trail of blood behind, as it quickly moved to the maid who simply passed by at the wrong time. The older woman in an uniform took her last breath within seconds of calling for the lady, laying in a pool of blood as the katana was deep inside her chest.

"Mitsuri!" the woman dared to shout in horror as she witnessed the death of her maid

The pain from her open wound and the shock from the murder that happened right before her eyes, seemed to awake her. She only now realised that the Y/N she thought she was, was nothing more than a mere reflection of the past, perhaps it was a memory she didn't want to let go of, of a cheerful and harmless little girl who always smiled. But the truth was, she hasn't seen her sister smile in years, cause she was not the same as she was before.

"You..you" she stumbled among her words, afraid of what was going to happen to her

Y/N didn't want to harm Yuki, it was never her plan, cause she could never kill her, after all, she was bounded to the memories they shared, good or bad, Yuki L/N was her older sister and that was a sacred thing to the young woman.

"Choose your words wisely" she pulled her katana back into its place "Or you might follow your beloved maid into the after life" but she did not mean it

"I swear to you, I won't ever contact him again, please, please spare my life" she begged falling to her knees as one hand was still pressing against her wound

Relived that she didn't have to peruse her any longer, she left the place without another word, leaving the corpse and her harmed sister lay on the floor of one of her olds house chambers.

Struggling to breathe and trembling in shock and fear, Yuki couldn't hold back her salty tears, crying in vain over the deed that could not be prevented. It was pointless and she was aware of it, but she couldn't help but cry and cry and cry...cause that's the only thing she was good at. Crying.

"Yuki" the sweet tone of her mother's voice made her tilt her head to the sound

"She..she was here" she managed to say between sobs

The woman was aware already of the presence of her youngest daughter. On top of that, she didn't seem to be moved or mind the corpse of the maid or her harmed child.

"You brought her to me" she said with a smiled as she patted Yuki's head, ignoring her injury "You have done well, child. Because of you, my beloved daughter came back home"

The sanity of the woman was questionable and it has been for a while now, but Yuki couldn't help but fear her mother, that calming smile on her face was terrifying.

"My beloved daughter" she kept repeating "Y/N is back home, we must welcome her" she sighed "But this place is so cold..." she frowned

Yuki remained silent, barely holding herself as she was about to pass out to the amount of blood she was loosing. The bitter and intoxicating smell of gasoline reached to her nosestrills, making her gag slightly.

"Let's warm up for her, for my daughter...Yuki you brought my child back" she smiled at her oldest daughter, watching her close her eyes, fainting on the red tinted carpet

The woman dropped her lit up match, watching the entire room and house that were soaked in gasoline, catch on fire, cleaning them of their sins and memories, warming up to the memory of one beloved child, who's smile lighted up one's day.
