*(y/n) POV*

It was the day!

My birthday!

I was finally turning 9 years old today!

I squealed a bit and jumped around in my seat.

My mommy and daddy said that we were going some place special for my birthday!

The trip was a bit long, but I couldn't care less! I was just happy that I was with my family!

I sighed and laid back in my chair as I looked up at my mom who was in the passenger seat next to my dad who was driving.

I smiled up at her, and she looked down at me with a hurt face... Wait what?!

She turned away and I cocked my head to the side.
"Mother are you alright?" She turned back to me, and cracked a small smile, "I'm fine honey." She turned back and I looked down at my lap and started to twiddle my thumbs. I could tell she was faking.. But why? After all today was supposed to be a happy day right?

As I was deep within my own thoughts the car came to a slow halt and my parents started to get out of the car. I jumped up and down in my seat reaching my buckle and quickly unclipping it. I then opened the door and looked at my surroundings.

"The woods?" I asked with a puzzled expression, as I turned to look at my parents.

My mother was nearly on the brink of tears, while my fathers expression that was happy and cheerful never wavered.

"Yep! This is your birthday present!"

My dad beamed in delight, as he went around to the back of the car and opened up the trunk.

That was when my mother lost it.

Chocked sobs escaped her throat as she ran around to the back of the car and gripped my fathers shoulders harshly.

"You can't do this! This is our daughter! Out daughter!"

She exclaimed in agony.

My dad looked at her with a disgusted expression and pushed her off of him.

"Our child? You're really gonna call that demon, our child!?"

"B-But I'm not a demon daddy!"

I said in defense, as I went to go help my mom up off the ground.

"That's right sweetly you're not. But you will become one soon..."

He trailed off, as he grabbed something out of the trunk.

"I'm not gonna let you become a demon little girl.."

He muttered, as I heard a loud clicking noise.

"Turn around. And count to 5."

I trembled in fear, and cowered behind my mother.

"Don't do this!"

My mother yelped, as I gripped her hands in mine.

"Get out of the way!"

My dad yelled harshly, as he stomped over to my mother and I, and picked me up by the collar of my shirt.

"Hey! Daddy that hurts!"

I pouted, as he nearly dropped me on the rubble.

"Turn around. And count to 5."

"B-But why?"

"JUST DO IT GOD DAMNIT!"

I frowned, and turned around.

"Ok. Sorry daddy for making you mad."

I said.

That was when my father started to lose it at that point.

"I-I-It's fine."

He stuttered.

At that point in time, I didn't know what was happening, but looking back on that memory now.

It was clear on what they were trying to do.

Though they were hesitant, and I could tell in my heart that they didn't want to do this to their one and only child.

"Count to ten (y/n)."

My dad spoke, as his voice cracked slightly from the tears that streamed down his face.

"Ok."

I said, as I crossed my hands behind my back and smiled.

"Oneee!"

The same click was heard.

"Twoooo!"

Nothing but my mother and fathers raged breathing being heard at this point.

"Three!"

My mothers desperate pleas towards my father become louder and more saddening then before.

"Four!"

My mother tried to tackle my father to the ground, but failed in the process.

"Five!"

BANG!

A gunshot was heard.

I blinked in confusion, as I stuck out my lower lip.

"Dad? What happened?"

I asked as I turned around.

The next thing I saw, still haunts my dreams to this day.

My father, still had his gun in hand, however..

Instead of the bullet inflicting damage on me.

It took its toll on my dad.

At the last moment, my mom had grabbed the gun and aimed it at my fathers chest.

And in only a matter of seconds my father fell down to the ground, along with his weapon.

"(y/n)! You're safe!"

My mother exclaimed, as she ran over to me so that she could hug me.

But here's the thing about my back story.

It doesn't have a happy ending.

Sure, my father died and my mother was coming to hug me.

But I'm not finished with this story..

Another loud gunshot was heard, and my mother slumped to the ground.

A dark figure loomed behind her now fallen corpse.

A twisted smile could be seen, in this shadow/silhouette.

"Happy Birthday (y/n)."
