Paper Rings - Steve Rogers

Part 28

We'd picked up Wanda and Vision and we were right the aliens had gone after them. We narrowly escaped what could've been an incredibly bad fight. Vision was injured and we knew we had to go somewhere safe.

They wouldn't stop until they got the soul stone.

"Where to now?" Sam asked.

"The compound" Steve said.

Sam nodded and helped up Wanda lift up Vision carrying him towards the quinjet.

Sam helped Vision onto the bench sitting him down next Wanda.

"I thought you two were meant to be keeping a low profile?" Steve asked a hint of annoyance in his voice.

"We did" Wanda replied.

"Maybe they were attracted to the mind stone" I said.

"They did tell us to give it up" Vision replied.

"Steve, I think this might have something to do with Thor's vision" Natasha said.

Natasha ran his hand over his jaw and nodded in agreement.

"This isn't good" I sighed.

"No it's not" Vision said in agreement.

Steve sighed and took a seat at the quinjet. His leg bouncing up and down.

I walked over and took a seat next to him placing my hand on his knee to make him stop.

"I'm really wishing I still had the shield" Steve chuckled.

"I just hope I have enough web fluid" I said glancing down at my web shooters.

"How full are they?" Steve asked.

"Half" I said.

"When we get back to the compound they should have the ingredients to make more because I'm not letting you fight without more" Steve said.

"I'll make some more Steve" I said rubbing my hand along his thigh.

"I really hope we don't fuck this up" Steve said.

"Everything will be ok" I reassured him.

We finally landed at the Avengers compound, we quickly hurried inside looking for someone to help us.

We reached some sort of meeting where Rhodey was talking to a hologram of Ross. Well more like arguing.

"Mr Secretary" Steve greeted interupting the two.

"You've got some nerve I'll give you that" He said spitefully.

"You could use some of that right now" I said.

"The worlds on fire and you think all is forgiven?" Ross scoffed.

Steve shook his head and took a step forward.

"I'm not looking for forgiveness and I'm way past asking permission. Earth just lost her best defender so we're here to fight" Steve glanced back at us.

"And if you want to stand in our way we'll fight you too" Steve said his jaw clenching slightly.

Is it weird that Steve speaking that way turned me on? Probably.

"Arrest them colonel" Ross ordered.

Rhodey rolled his eyes at the secretary.

"All over it" He said hanging up the call.

"Good to see you Cap" Rhodey said bringing Steve in for a hug.

"Good to see you too Rhodey" Steve said smiling at his friend.

"God you all look like shit" Rhodey chuckled.

"Well the hotels weren't exactly 5 star" Sam said causing Rhodey to laugh.

Steve took a few steps back standing next to me.

"You speaking to Ross like that was hot" I whispered.

Steve bit his bottom lip at me biting back a smirk.

"Do I have that effect on you sweetheart?" Steve teased.

I was about to open my mouth with a reply but we were interrupted with someone coming around the corner.

"Bruce?" Natasha said.

"Hey guys, Nat" Bruce said awkwardly.

"This is awkward" Sam whispered earning a glare from Nat.

Bruce explained to us about these things called the Infinity stones. There were six. Space, time, soul, mind, power and reality. And the 'mad titan Thanos' already had.

"He only needs two left" Bruce said.

"And one of them is in Vision" Sam said.

"Is there any chance we could destroy the stone?" I asked Bruce.

He adjusted his glasses pushing it up the bridge of his nose as he thought.

"Wouldn't that kill him" Wanda asked worriedly.

"Is there not a way that you could remove the stone?" I asked.

"Wait no you migh be onto something" Bruce said pointing a finger at me a small smile appearing on his face.

"I mean there are layers to vision, and the mind stone isn't all of vision. There is still JARVIS, Ultron, Tony all of these components the mind stone is just one small part of it" Bruce said.

"So we could take the mind stone away and destroy it but still keep vision alive?" Wanda asked.

"Exactly, but we would have to fully destroy it like reduce it to atoms" Bruce explained.

Wanda simply shrugged.

"Sounds easy" She said.

"I can't remove the mind stone not here" Bruce sighed.

"We'll need to find someone who can" Steve said.

An idea popped into my mind.

"Shuri" I said.

"Who's Shuri?" Bruce asked.

"She's a Wakandan princess and she's a genius, she'll have the equipment she'll know what to do" I said.

Steve nodded in agreement.

"Y/n's right" Steve said in agreement.

"So we're heading to Wakanda?" Sam asked.

"Ready to head back?" I asked Steve.

He nodded and gave my hand a squeeze.

"I'll tell T'challa to prepare, let's go" Steve said.
