A month has gone by since Chase escaped, and things did not get any better for Chase. Even though he escaped torture and abuse once again, now it's hard to survive. Chase didn't know where he ran too, but he was always surrounded by nature. Chase had no shelter or food or water to survive on. The living conditions were horrible, but the condition Chase escaped on was even worse.

His wounds weren't treated, so they were open to catch diseases. This whole month, Chase would take shelter in a rough, rocky and wet and cold cave that didn't lead anywhere. He would catch colds and Chase also had to deal with infections. Those illnesses would last for more than a week, minimum for at least two weeks. But that was without treatment or any sort of care. Chase had no warmth aside from his ripped up hoodie. Every single night, he would be shivering and hungry for lots of nights. Chase could only drink from the water provided by the rain or even have drips of the cave.

It was hard to get food or even drink out in the wild due to dangerous predator's living in Costa Rica. Puma's, Crocodiles, deadly snakes, Jaguars and deadly spiders and frogs. Each step into the forest or river or lake would be risky. And Chase had to risk his whole life just to find some food or something to drink. At nights, Chase would hear howls of coyotes too, which made Chase stay awake the whole night a few times.

Things just got way harder, not mentally this time, but more physically. Chase has been mentally manipulated, abused, and physically abused. He had to deal with torture and abuse his whole life and now he's escaped that, but is now being challenged by the wild. Anything could happen in any second and Chase always had to be cautious.

But, at least he was able to escape Lady Keres. He hasn't seen any sight of her or her guards around this area, so Chase knew he would be safe around here. He didn't know which way he came from or how far he ran, but he made sure to use every single second that he had to get away from that place of hell.

Chase was taking a good look of his surroundings as he slowly walked towards a lake, filled with water.

Chase looked around and sighed in relief.

"Good, no crocodiles." Chase said to himself and quickly drank water. There would be times where crocodiles would patrol the lakes or just sit out there, looking for prey and Chase was the most vulnerable prey out there right now, so Chase had to play it smart and careful. One wrong move can cost his life and he wouldn't even know it.

Not even a minute passed and Chase heard splashing, he quickly looked up and saw a crocodile's head, peering out of the water. Chase sadly sighed as he quickly pushed through the bushes and ran off.

Day and night passes by like cars on a highway. Chase spent most of his days out in the wild, trying to get food or water. Chase would find himself mostly eating some sort of wet leaves like salad or blue-berries he would normally find. Chase couldn't find a city or any sort of civilization at all, no matter how far he walked. Each day, Chase would lose his energy, there would be days where he didn't move from his single spot at all. Even on rainy days, Chase didn't move. The only sort of warmth provided was his hoodie.

There would also be nights where tears would just fall from his eyes and cry until he goes to sleep.

Nighttime came

Chase was still inside his cave, this time, recalling everything that has happened until now.

"She's right about one thing." Chase told himself, referring to Lady Keres.

"I have nothing." Chase said, and silence fell upon him. He slowly got up, wincing from pain, but he didn't seem to care anymore. And Chase slowly left the cave and out into the darkness that consumed the forest.

"No friends."

"No family."

"No talent."

"No house."

"No water."

"No food."

"No love."

Chase repeated these words until he stopped. He was standing on the edge of a huge gorge. Chase then began shedding tears. He visited this place almost every day. Because this is where he first tried to end it all.

This was too much to handle

All Chase felt was pain, suffering, fear, confusion, torture, and sadness. During his time in the wild, over twenty times, Chase tried to end his life in ways other than jumping down on the gorge. But for some reason, Chase would always find himself not being able to do it. He would just leave and go back to his cave.

"Why am I being pulled back?" Chase asked in tears as he looked up to the stars. Why does life keep pulling him back from death? He had no reason to live anymore. These thoughts made Chase feel even worse. He was really confused, as if life had other plans for him. But he had no future.

Chase recalled everything, memories of his past life appearing in his eyes once again. And then, Chase began singing in a broken voice:

"Cause I'm all...alone...that's all I feel when I'm alive...I hate this pain please let me die." Chase sang that verse over and over and over.

Chase wiped the tears off of his face and looked back down on the gorge. And now, his facial expression showed a glare, staring down at the gorge. I'd rather be dead than live like this! Chase mentally yelled, tears streaming more than ever.

And putting pressure on his legs...

He jumped

But nothing happened, Chase felt his hoodie being tucked, more like grabbed.

Someone caught him. Chase opened his eyes and noticed that he didn't fall one inch towards the gorge. That's when he looked back and a flash of light appeared in his face.

"I found one!"

He heard a man say and when the light focused in, Chase saw a man, dressed in a grey jumpsuit with a grey hat, like he was a worker. Suddenly, many other lights came from flash lights, appearing other men that were dressed like the man that caught him.

"Hahahaha! Wouldn't he be a nice touch?" One of the workers laughed.

"It looked like he tried to jump this gorge." One of the other workers said as he observed the view.

"Meh, It doesn't matter, the more we catch dogs like these, the more money we'll hopefully make. Let's take this guy back to the pound." Said from the man that caught him, and then one of the workers placed down a cage and the worker holding Chase, roughly threw him inside the metal bars, Chase's body hitting the cold, metal floor. The space was so small, Chase couldn't even stand up or sit.

He looked back at the workers who were laughing and teasing him. He was more scared than ever. These people gave off bad vibes and Chase didn't want to deal with more abuse. But he couldn't find a way out, so he started whimpering in sadness, tears streaming down his face, making the workers laugh more as they began carrying Chase....

To his new life at the pound
