Meredith was talking to Amelia and she was telling her about her new boyfriend and how everything was going well in their relationship and that she really likes him he was sweet, kind, caring, a gentlemen, and he had beautiful blonde hair. Derek didn't like the sound of his little sister having a boyfriend but he knew it would happen one day and that day was today.
"So you really seem to like this guy," Meredith said as she leaned into Derek's arms that were wrapped around her waist as he had been very clingy that day.
"I do I just...I think it might work out, you know?" She said as she couldn't stop smiling
"I know" she smiled back as she put her hand on Derek that was on her stomach.
"But I also have something to tell you all," she said as she was referring to Meredith, Derek and Carolyn.
"What now?" Derek said as he was getting annoyed with her talking about some boy earning a slap on the shoulder from Meredith.
"I'm pregnant," she said as she cringed for the reactions she was gonna get. They were all silent until Meredith broke it.
"Well, congratulations!" Meredith smiled as she sat next to Amelia and hugged her.
"You're what?!" Derek exclaimed
"I'm pregnant, I'm having a baby, Derek," she said as she smiled at him a bit
"You barely know this guy, how do you know he's not gonna leave the second the baby's born," he said angered
"Derek, she's you're sister you should at least be happy for her" Meredith said back as she looked at her husband.
"How well is that gonna go for them?" He asked Meredith
"How long did you say you've known this guy?" Meredith asked softly as Amelia started to cry.
"We've been friends for three years but we just started dating eight months ago, but I didn't want to tell anyone until I knew it was gonna work out," she said as a few tears went down her cheeks.
"So you've known each other for almost four years?" Meredith asked softly as she looked into Amelia's eyes.
"Yes" she sniffled
"Derek, do you remember how long you And I knew each other when I found out I was pregnant with the boys?" She asked as she looked back at Derek. He sat there quiet for a bit before he answered
"Two years," he said
"See you and link have known each other longer than me and Derek when I found out I was pregnant with three babies, I'm sure you two will be fine with one" Meredith whispered
"Okay," Amelia said as she wiped her tears
"What do you think mom?" Amelia asked as she looked towards her mother who was silent the entire time.
"I mean I'm happy that I get another grandchild and if he doesn't stay then you have a whole family here in New York to help you" Carolyn smiled
"Thank you" Amelia smiled as she stood up and hugged her mother and Meredith sat next to Derek.
"Why can't you be happy for her?" Meredith whispered to Derek as he wrapped his arms around her waist again.
"Because she too young" he whispered back
"How old was I when you got me pregnant?" She asked
"I don't know probably 23" he replied
"And how old is Amelia now" she smiled
"26" he replied
"There you go," she said as she slapped his chest
"Fine I'll be happy for her" he rolled his eyes
"Goo, now go give you're sister a hug," she said as she pushed him up and he walked over to Amelia and hugged her.
"Congratulations" he whispered as he hugged her
"Thank you" she replied
