After a few minutes, Amy took over the ice pack to avoid any more possible awkwardness.
"Why don't you ask Wendy to patch you up a little?" Gajeel suddenly asks. Even though he's being really caring, he's also acting distant.
Amy struggles to answer the question. She hates drawing attention to herself like that.
"I guess I hadn't thought of that yet.." Amy lies. She covers her lie with a embarrassed smile, as if she was genuinely feeling stupid.
"Please, Amy. You can't fool me like that. And how can it be that your tutoring is causing so much bruising?" Gajeel confronted Amy. Amy looks down and becomes frustrated.
"I've been worried a little these past days and.." Gajeel added, but Amy had enough.
She stands up, pushes the ice pack in his hands and starts walking to the door.
"I never asked for your help.. If I am that much of a burden to you.." Amy's voice changed, her tone isn't the same as it usually is.
"You are not a burden!" Gajeel yells as he stands up a little aggressively.
"Then what am I, Gajeel?!" Amy angrily reacts to him. Gajeel is almost scared by the look on her face. He has never seen Amy like this before.

A moment of silence falls down on them. Now it's Gajeel who's feeling anxious.
"I am not a fucking 5 year old anymore who is in need of constant care and protection. I've been hurt much worse by teachers in the past, on purpose, which never led to any results! So believe me when I say that these bruises, they are nothing to me." Amy suddenly explained to him.
Unaware that she just told him something very specific about her past, all he could think is the urge to make her feel comfortable again. Meanwhile he can't think of a single thing to say to her.

"I should go.." Amy then says to break the silence, but just as she turns the doorknob, Gajeel graps her arm and pulls her back. This results in her crashing into his chest and him wrapping his arms around her. Amy is fighting his strength.
"Please don't.." Gajeel speaks very softly with a breaking voice. His arms are even shaking a little. Amy stops fighting.
Both of their hearts are pounding insanely.
"I can't explain it right now and I can't do anything about it.. I just want to be there.." Gajeel tries to explain.
Amy slowly too wrapped her arms around Gajeel's waist. Even though she is real mad at him for baby-ing her, she does appreciate the fact that he is looking out for her.

Just as the two of them ended their embrace, the front door opens and Lily enters the room, instantly feeling that there is a little tension between Gajeel and Amy.
"Don't mind me, just passing through." Lily speaks casually as he heads to the living room.
"By the way, Levy and her boys now took the job. So we'll have to pick another one tomorrow." Lily added before closing the door.
"Wait.. You were on your way to a job.."
"and I had Lily to cancel it because I felt like I had to be here for you." Gajeel finished her sentence.
Gajeel isn't making any eye contact as he said that. Amy feels her cheeks turn color.
"I.. I d-don't know w-what to say.." She stutters.
"That's OK. You don't have to." Gajeel speaks more calm than he was before.

She can't quite understand what is going on between the two of them. The one thing she does know, is the fact that he cares. But there is so much yet to happen and they haven't even discovered who they are, who they want to be and how to live life to the fullest.
It can be frustrating sometimes, just like right now when they are just standing there.
