Chapter 14: Happy New Year Encanto!

(I would like to clarify before this chapter that COVID doesn't exist, and that they are in our time line. So the next year will be 2022 as well! Alright enjoy<3)

2nd person:

It was New Year's Eve! Everyone was so excited. With all the fun events that have happened in the past month, New Years just completes it all.

It was morning, you and Mirabel went to the tailors to pick up everyone's outfits. Every year on New Years Eve the whole town sets up a feast in the middle of town. It's like a formal thing, so everyone comes dressed up in the fanciest outfits!

You two were picking up the outfits for the family. The outfit that you picked up were special. They each had small embroidered symbols dedicated to their gift. Even you and Mirabel had them! You had embroidered hearts along your dress, and Maribel had an embroidered candle on her dress. Hers was similars to Abuela's dress.

As you two came back to the casita, you set the outfits for each person in their room, and you put on your apron to her Julieta set up food for the feast.

[time skip]

It was around noon time now, you and Julieta met up with the town baker and local restaurant owners. Everyone brought a huge portion of meals for the town. As you all set up the up on the enormous table that was enough to fit at least 150 people.

Around the town center, you could see townspeople setting up decorations. It was so beautiful! The sun has just set, and the party begins! You an Julieta went back to the house to go get ready.

As you went into your and Camilo's room you saw him already dressed up in black long sleeve collar and his dark orange and yellow ruana. He looked so handsome. As you were admiring him, you didn't quite notice how long you were staring at him.

(Camilo)
"Mi amor~ you're staring.."
(Y/n)
"O-oh sorry! You just look really handsome mi vida.."

He walks up to you and twirls you around. As he walks out he winks to you. You sit down on the bed start to get ready yourself. You wore a silk dress with heart embroidered on the ends. It was probably the most comfortable piece of clothing you ever wore. Reina woke up from her little nap. As she was laying on her little cat stand, she yawned as you pet her softly. Noticing that she has fallen back to sleep you grab your coat and make your way downstairs. You meet Camilo, who has just come out of the kitchen stuffing a concha in his mouth. You chuckled and shook of the crumbs off his ruana. You two made your way to the town center to meet up with everyone else.

As you got there you were lead by a path of pink rose petals. The town was a spectacular sight. The lights were bright and everyone was smiling a laughing. The fountain was trickling with water that glimmered.

When you two got to the table, Camilo took off your coat and opened your chair for you. What a gentleman, you thought.

As everyone was seated, Abuela made a toast.

(Abuela)
"To another wonderful year in our Encanto! I wish upon happiness, and guidance to every family, including my own! Happy New Year to our people!"

(The town)
"Happy New Year!"

Everyone started to dig into the delicious food. There were all types of food from all different cultures as well! You saw some sopa that was your absolute favorite! Everyone was having a blast! It felt so nice to celebrate with the family."
(Sopa means soup btw)

As dinner was finished, everyone then moved on to dessert. You were astonished at all the sugar that was on the table. Both you and Camilo rushed up there, 'kindly' pushing Isabella out of the way to stock up on some flan.

As you two came back to the table, everyone started talking about you and Camilo.

(Abuela)
"So? Have you two made it official yet?"
(Pepa)
"Oh!! Yes! Yes! You two would be the cutest couple!"
(Felíx)
"*gasp* What about us amor??"

As they continued to talk, Abuela moved on.

(Abuela)
"Don't mind them but are you two?"
(Camilo)
"Well...we haven't made it completely official..yet! But we have promised each other."

You nod in agreement before Dolores speaks up.

(Dolores)
"It's true, I haven't heard neither of them say they're official. Although they stay up until 2AM complimenting each other, it sort of reminds me of mamí and papí...bleh."

You and Camilo have both turned bright red at that sudden outburst. Camilo kicked Dolores form under the table, and excused the both of you.

He said it would be nice to get some fresh air away from the crowd for awhile. You two took a stroll around the town.

(Camilo)
"So..."
(Y/n)
"Are you ok Cami?"
(Camilo)
"Yeah..I just can't stop thinking about what Abuela said. I mean..I want to be official with you, I just don't know if you feel the same..."

You stop walking and face him. His head was down and he was trying to hold in tears. You made his face you, as he looked at you with sad eyes. In the back round you can hear a count down staring but you didn't pay attention. You just wanted your Camilo to be happy.

As the countdown hit five, you kissed him passionately. He obviously kissed you back.

It was sweet and special, you felt like you two needed this. You didn't know he was dealing with the stress of wondering if you wanted to be with him officially of not. You pulled away and rested your forehead against his.

(Y/n)
"I would love to be your girlfriend Camilo.."

The countdown hit one.

"HAPPY NEW YEAR!!"
