MAGIC WAS HARD. It was tied to your emotions most of the time so whenever you lose control of your emotions like getting too excited or angry, that's when accidents happen and your magic goes haywire so you need to learn how to control your emotions and regulate them but you also need enough emotion to spark your magic and get it off the ground

So it was all a little complicated...and messy

There were different types of magic as well from different cultures and while it was intriguing, it was messing with Erica's head. There were all different ways one could practise magic from astrology, divination, and spiritual communication, all of which had their own set of rules and expectations.

And then there was the type of magic Erica was born with, along with druidism, shamanism, and voodoo, the latter one was the most known by Jaclyn and the others and the one she was learning about alongside learning to control the magic inside of her and the limits and expectations that came with it

Physically she couldn't do much more than what she had done for Calypso a few days ago but she was learning more and more every day like how magic itself was entirely neutral (neither bad nor good), magic could often be used for either negative or positive purposes.

Calypso had been kind enough to lend Erica her journals, and she read them whenever she had time (which wasn't often) however she particularly found the history of magic intriguing especially how the laws and legends of magic worked in the world she grew up in as she had no idea, any of this existed

Over the course of time, magic has been practised in many cultures, and utilized ways of understanding, experiencing and influencing the world somewhat akin to those offered by religion, though it was sometimes regarded as more focused on achieving results than religious worship. Magic was often viewed with suspicion by the wider community and was commonly practised in isolation and secrecy.

The Sword of Triton a magical blade with great powers was believed to have been forged by the Greek God himself. Triton's father, the god, also possessed a magical weapon, the legendary Trident of Poseidon which could break any curse born from the sea. I designed a special metal chamber in which the mermaids locked Poseidon's magical gems, thus making themselves immune to the power of the Trident.

Those were the first two paragraphs in one book and she immediately read more, wanting to learn as much as she could (much to the frustration of Jaclyn) but she didn't understand, all of this was new to Erica and she wanted to be as knowledgeable as possible

She had to prove herself to Jaclyn.

Even if she said she didn't have to.
