STARS TWINKLED AGAINST the inky sky and the rock of the ship was constant enough that it soothed Erica into a lull as laughter spilt from her mouth and she couldn't remember the last time she felt this relaxed, this at home without Jaclyn -- because of course Jaclyn was her safe place
"Seriously?" Annamaria laughed, her laughter mingling with Erica's own
"It's not hard to do it, all you have to do is find a large crowd, pick a target and then distract them by drawing their attention to something bigger. It is quite easy to do"
"Aren't ya supposed to be so kind of law-abiding person back where you're from?"
"In another life" Erica drawled, a lazy smile on her face as she leans her head against the rum barrels they had brought up onto the top deck. It was another beautiful night, nights that someone could only see if you were really looking. She, Elizabeth, Annamaria and Angelica were all crowded around the top deck, legs stretched out and laughing with and at each other
"So have you found anything that'll help you find your sister?"
"No...I've found some vaguely helpful spells, but nothing that would be helpful in the long run" Erica said, frown on her face as she thought of all the spells and books she had gone through hoping to find something but every spell she has found is a dead end because like always all magic comes with a price
"You'll find something and if you don't...We'll help you"
"Thanks, I really don't deserve you"
"Of course you do. Look you're not going to get anywhere in life if you don't have at least a few solid relationships with people that you can trust and like -- and not only Jaclyn, she is good for you but let's not forget we are here for you and I'll always be here for you"
"Speak for yourself" Angelica rebutted, smiling wickedly at Erica "I just want to know how she puts up with Jaclyn -- after all, we do know what she's like"
"I didn't know the person she was -- I have heard stories of course but the thing about stories like memories is they can be altered over time that being said Jaclyn did say she would try and remember events as accurately as she could but I don't necessarily need to know her past to know how she is now and who she wants to be in the future and that is enough for me. She's changed the parts of her that she wants to change, but I wouldn't want all of her to change. I love how snarky, cheeky and stubborn she is, I love how she has and kept her roots in piracy. I love that she is fierce and unwavering and is only emotional in front of those who she feels deserve to see her that way and finally I love the way that people always underestimate her and think she's mad because time and time again, she has constantly surprised me"
A blanket of silence fell over the group after Erica's declaration and she almost smirked as she put the bottle of rum to her lips. Her cheeks were already dusted with a red colour but Erica liked the way it warmed her belly. Elizabeth, unsurprisingly, is the one to speak first "But those are all the things she hates about herself or wishes she can get rid of"
