Part Four: Slowly Absorbed Into the Void
Kuriko Nakano's POV
Something is... wrong... with me.
For the past few years, I've felt... empty.
I can't feel what I think.
This hollow feeling has dominated my life.
I've been trying to think of a way to cure myself... Fix myself.
The doctors won't allow me to see anyone... Except... Ryuzaki.
He is my escape from the cold, grey, empty world I've been trapped in.
But... The doctors are trying to take him away from me.
They won't tell me to my face, so I listened to them. I heard their secrets.
They're trying to make him forget about me. To make everyone forget about me.
But they won't get away with it so easily.
"It won't matter. They're going to kill him anyway," they said.
They are going to let the Shades kill him.
I have to stop them. Even if it means hurting them. Even if it means killing them.
There is nothing I won't do for him.
He is losing his pain. I want to help him.
I don't care what I have to do.
I don't care who I have to hurt.
I won't let anyone take him from me.
I will cure him.
I will save him.
March 13, 1953
11:40a.m.
Norwood's National Laboratories
Third Person's POV
Freddie, Jack, May, Noriko, Raven, and Stanley all took turns shoving each other out of the way, to see Kuriko on the other side of a steel door. When May accidentally stepped on Jack's foot, all six of them groaned in pain.
Freddie exclaimed, "Ow! Dude-"
May whispers, with a panicked expression, "Sorry...!"
Kuriko was staring at them. ...Know each other's pain. The doctors didn't mess it up this time.
Stanley asks, "...Um, who is that? Why is she locked up?"
Jack thought the woman looked familiar.
Kuriko, responding to Stanley, says, "You can just ask me, I can hear you..."
"...Sorry about that!" May exclaimed. "Uh, I'm May. What's your name?"
"...Kuriko. But my friend in the mirror calls me Void."
Stanley's attention was grabbed when she mentioned the mirror, because he recalls seeing a shadow in a mirror when he first arrived.
It seemed Jack realized something. "Wait, are you Kuriko Nakano?"
They saw her nod her head in response.
Freddie asks Jack, "Uh, who's Kuriko Nakano?"
Just the question itself seemed to disappoint Kuriko a little, since she was here to be forgotten about. The doctors' plans to make everyone forget about her was working.
