It had been 3 months. 3 months since Dianna told ransom she loved him, 3 months since ransom told her he loved her back.
Things were going great, actually they were going better than great they were going amazing. Ransom had never been happier, Dianna had never been happier, she had never felt so loved as she did right now. Dianna was doing amazingly well at work, she had now finished the first half of her book. She still hadn't allowed anyone to read it, it was for her eyes only right now. Ransom didn't have long left at blood like wine until he was allowed to leave, he never thought he would be sad to leave but he was. Not working with Dianna all day everyday would be a big change for him, something he wasn't sure he was ready for but he knew whatever happened he would still have her by his side no matter if he worked there or not. In the past 3 months Dianna and harlan had became close, harlan almost taking on a father figure role with her. Which made walt extremely jealous but when was walt not jealous or annoyed about something?
"Afternoon sweetheart" ransom spoke walking into the office kitchen where Dianna was currently eating her lunch
"Afternoon my love" she smiled softly, looking up at him
"Youse two make me feel sick" walt scoffed
"Shut it walt" ransom spat placing a kiss on her head before walking to the fridge and pulling his lunch out
"I honestly don't know how you two get more and more sickening by the day" Walt rolled his eyes standing up and leaving the kitchen
Dianna chuckled shaking her head slightly as ransom took a seat beside her at the table
"I have a present for you" he announced
She sighed "what have I told you about spending money on me? I have you, that's enough."
"I know you've told me but has it stopped me so far?"
"No-"
"Exactly, so it's not going to stop me now. Anyway I think you'll really like this" he reached into his pocket pulling out an envelope, handing it to her
She looked at the envelope then to him
"Open it, please"
She chuckled slightly opening the envelope, pulling out the contents. Dianna let out a gasp as she saw the envelope held two first class tickets to New York
"I know how much you miss it and How you wanted to surprise your mom for her birthday, I also know that you hadn't bought any tickets. So I thought I would, I got two because I would like to go with you. Meet your mom, your friends, see where your from but if you don't want me to come that is perfectly fine you can just use the one" he smiled at her as he watched her face light up with joy
She gripped the tickets tightly as she pulled him in for a hug, him instantly returning it "thank you so much, thank you so much"
"You're very welcome sweetheart" he spoke while holding onto her tightly
The kitchen door opened walt standing at the door. "Ransom. You've got a meeting, or did you forget?" He asked smugly
Dianna pulled away, not before placing a quick kiss on his lips "I love you"
"I love you too, I'll see you later" he smiled standing up, following walt out

Ransom sat down in Harlan's office, he had no idea what this meeting was about. Harlan just said they needed to talk and it was about business.
"I must admit ransom you've impressed me, I never thought you would actually take this job seriously" harlan chuckled
"Where is this going?" Ransom wasn't used to hearing his family complementing him, so right now he was more than confused
"Your time here is up, you only needed to be here a couple months and you've done it"
"My times up? You're firing me?"
Harlan shook his head "no, I'm not firing you. You were never really employed here. I've hired someone who is looking for a career in publishing, he starts next week."
"You've hired someone to take my place?" Ransom couldn't believe it, for once in his life he actually enjoyed working. Now he was getting replaced by someone.
Harlan sighed "ransom, you knew this was going to happen"
Harlan was right, he knew he would eventually leave. That was always the plan, but it was different now. "Okay, okay. So when do I finish?"
"Tomorrow. You and Dianna are leaving for New York, when you come back louis will have started and he'll take your place working with Dianna"
"Louis, Louis?" Ransom spat, a tinge of jealousy beginning to run through his body at the thought of another man working with Dianna like he did
"Yes Louis, now I have a call to make"
Ransom sighed standing from his chair, leaving Harlan's office slamming the door on his way out.

Like every day after work ransom walked to Dianna's office, smiling as she picked up her bag walking towards him taking his hand.
"So do we have any plans for tonight?" She asked as they began walking to the car park
"Nope, unless there's something you want to do?"
She shook her head, ransom opening the passenger door for her. She got in the car, ransom closing the door before jogging around getting into the drivers side.
"My last day is tomorrow" ransom sighed
"What?!" She turned in her seat to face him as he drove "what do you mean your last day is tomorrow?"
"Harlan has someone new starting next week, so I have to go"
As much as Dianna didn't want to see him go she knew it would happen eventually, him working there was never a permanent arrangement. "Do you- do you want to go?"
Ransom glanced over at her chuckling "you're going to miss me aren't you?"
"Of course I am, do you know how much joy it brings me after I've had a long morning to see you walking through my door with that perfect smirk"
"Aww little Dianna will miss me" he laughed, teasing
She gently punched his arm, laughing "shut it"
He chuckled shaking his head
"So what will you do now that you won't be working?" She asked
"Probably go back to what I did before, or I could start my own business"
"What would you do?"
"I'm not sure, I would have to think about it" he shrugged
Dianna nodded "well whatever you do I'll know it'll be wonderful"
"Always so much faith in me" he sighed
"Is that a bad thing?" She chuckled
"No, no it's not I just don't want to disappoint you"
"You could never disappoint me" she smiled softly at him
He reached over taking her hand, placing a kiss on her knuckles "I love you"
"I love you too" she smiled at him
