"Oh thank goodness you came early." Mom said as she opens the door ushering Patrick and I inside. With it being Sunday and our mother insisting on hosting us every Sunday the least Patrick and I can do is come early to help. "Of course Anne, we always look forward to helping you." Patrick says taking our coats and putting them in the hall closet. 'Not to mention, getting to steal some of whatever you've baked.' I say getting a chuckle from my husband and a glare from my mother. "Now don't you start missy. Too bad for you I'm not in charge of dessert for tonight." she says leading us into the kitchen where pots were bubbling and veggies are being chopped by dad.

Kitchen
Patrick went took a detour to the bathroom so he could wash his hands while I wash mine in the kitchen. "Theres my favorite daughter!" Dad says as he gets up from the counter to greet me. 'Dad I'm your only daughter.' I chuckle as he's been saying this for years "Thats why I'm allowed to say it, unlike greeting one of the boys as my favorite son." dad chuckles only to be cut off by mom yelling from the pantry "Not that we have one and don't get your brothers started on whose the favorite again." I practically hear her rolling her eyes.

Bathroom
"You heard your mother." Dad says moving around me and going to give Patrick a hug. "How come I wasn't announced as your favorite son-in-law." Patrick says feigning a hurt expression. "Well my boy there's two reasons for that, one soon you won't be my only son-in-law and secondly I don't like to lie." Dad says chuckling only to get a swat on the head from Mom making me and Pat laugh. "Now enough from you, go watch a game or something we don't need slackers in the kitchen." Mom says shooing out her husband with a playful smile.
