*Your POV*

Times were changing on base. The summer and autumn had come and gone without incident, and similar to the seasons, the personnel on base were also changing. With some major restructuring by the top brass, many from the 233rd had been reassigned to fit other positions both on base and at other locations. Most notably, Junho, one of the pilots from Bravo company had finished his extended enlistment period and transferred to the Coast Guard as a pilot there, leaving your team to operate as a 5-man team.

As for you, after your promotion, most of your time on base had become more theory oriented, with you being assigned as a part-time instructor for the newbies and their rappelling training scenarios. And with a fresh batch of airmen having come in to fill the recently-expanded 235th SAR teams, you were quite busy with teaching the newbies.

So when you got the occasional morning off from training, you took advantage of it and took to your contemplation area: the helicopter. And while you usually liked to be alone during these times, you didn't mind being around the other company mates from Bravo Company, especially since the reshuffle meant that no one really knew when they would be relocated.

With Christmas around the corner, many of the soldiers on base had asked for time off for the holidays, and the activity levels around the complex had fizzled out. Today was a very cold December morning, and you were hanging out at the helicopter while Hyunjin and Sungjin were performing their routine inspections. Since you weren't assigned to any inspections of any sort, you just lounged around and borrowed Sungjin's binoculars that he would usually use to go plane-spotting in his free time to have a look around.

"Hyung, aren't you bored just looking up at the sky with those binoculars?" Hyunjin asked you.

"Not really. There's plenty to see." You returned, not taking your eyes off of the binoculars.

"Yeah, a bunch of sky." Hyunjin quipped.

"Anyways, how's the teaching job going?" Sungjin asked you.

"The new freshies? They still have a long way to go until they're field ready."

"How many of them are there? It looked like there was a decent amount."

"My group yesterday had 14. And apparently my group later today is going to be bigger." You winced at the thought.

"Eh, you'll be fine." Hyunjin brushed it off.

"I sure hope so..." You thought out loud before picking up on the sound of an approaching helicopter.

"Is that the transport of freshies?" Sungjin asked.

"Let's find out." You said, pulling up the binoculars again. Because you and Sungjin had spent so much time together when he nerded out over aviation, you had inevitably picked up a thing or two about identifying aircraft. But when you found this approaching helicopter in your sights, something about what you saw confused you.

"Hey Sungjin. What branch of the military flies a blue and white helicopter?" You asked.

"Blue? Like the coast guard ones?"

"No, the hull is like a dark blue."

"Lemme see." Sungjin said, hopping back from the cockpit to where you were and checked using the binoculars himself. "Huh, looks like one of those VIP transport helicopters out of the Seoul base. Must be top brass or something." He guessed.

"That's slightly ominous." You commented. "Right before the holidays as well. Hope nothing bad happened."

"It's probably nothing serious. Maybe it's here to pick up the Colonel for something." Hyunjin threw his theory into the mix.
