A/N: finally we start the story at a different point, since we rejoin with Y/N still inside the JYPe building, right after he was told of TWICE not being JYPe artists anymore.

==========

*Your POV*

"Sir, TWICE are no longer affiliated with JYP Entertainment."

That one line kept replaying in your mind as you stood dumbfounded in the lobby of the JYP building. Your excitement from returning from serving in the military had essentially crumbled in one sentence, and the blunt delivery of the news really put a damper on things. How could one of the largest girl groups just disappear. Had so much changed in the 2 years that you were gone?

"Excuse me, sir? Are you done with your business here?" The security guard walked up to you in your moment of shock.

"Y-Yeah. I'll be going now. Have a good evening." You quickly bowed to him before making your way to the doors, with a little bit more emotional weight in each step.

With one statement and less than 5 minutes, your job, place of residence, and source of income had all been taken away from you, and now you were essentially leaving this place for good. All of the memories and friendships that you had made in the past several years never had the solidified end that they deserved.

As you stood outside in the summer evening breeze that was blowing, you reluctantly tried to start planning some sort of a plan with the limited time and resources you had. Of course, that would be easier said than done, since your phone couldn't be reconnected to the network without going to the phone store, and it was too late in the evening. With morale at an all time low, you were ready to give in for the night. But suddenly, you heard the rapid clicking of someone running in heels towards you from the JYPe building.

"Excuse me! Please wait!" She shouted as she approached you, out of breath from the run.

"H-Hello? Can I help you?" You asked, not sure why you were being chased.

"Sorry, I don't mean to be breathing all over you." She apologised before straightening out her dress suit. "You wouldn't happen to be Kwon Y/N, would you?"

"Yes, that is me." You answered, surprised at the sudden identification.

"Were you here about your job, by chance?"

"That's right." You answered again, hesitantly. "I know the staff pretty well, but I don't recognise you."

"Sorry, I overheard your conversation earlier. And yes, I started 6 months ago." She explained. "Anyways, there's someone inside that would like to see you."

"Me? My arrival wasn't scheduled though."

"Correct, but I'm more than certain that this person will be able to explain what happened during your leave."

"Well... I might as well, since I have nothing else to lose." You sighed out in reluctance.

"Great. Here is your guest pass. I'm sure you've seen many of these in the past." She said, handing you the all-too-familiar card and lanyard before heading inside. "If you could follow me, I can lead you up to the meeting room."

"Right. Then lead the way."

With that, the two of you walked back into the building and through the security gates without issues. Being back inside felt strange after everything that had happened before, and the way that you had returned felt so strange. Here she was, this supposed new hire, that knew of your situation at the company, and had led you inside just like that. If your mind had been functioning properly and you remembered company protocol, this should have been a big red flag. But with everything thrown at you already, you were just going along with it for the sake of it.
