A New World (Shadow x Reader)

Chapter 6: Chao

"Uh, hey Sonic?" I greeted the man, sitting back up in my bed again.

"Hey Y/N! Sorry to barge in. I just wanted to know how you were feeling." Sonic slowly walked over to my bedside.

"Pretty tried from the training but besides that good." I noticed the ice pack from earlier was no longer there and I was curious who else was in this room while I was gone.

"Okay, good. How'd it go with Shadow?" Sonic asked bluntly.

"Fine. He was his usual self." I lightly chuckled remembering how grumpy he was.

"Sounds about right. Although, I do find it weird how he just volunteered to take you..." Huh? I thought he said he was 'forced'?

"What do you mean?" I furrowed my brows at the blue speedster.

"Hm, it's probably nothing. Goodnight, Y/N!" Before I could protest, Sonic dashed out of my room. Odd. Why would Shadow volunteer? He's always miserable around everyone. Eh, maybe Sonic just misread the situation. I laid back down and FINALLY fell asleep without disruptions.

It was around 8 AM when I woke up again. I was actually incredibly sore from yesterday and I was really hoping the gang would have mercy on me today.

"Mornin' Y/N!" Sonic waved to me as I walked into the kitchen. I couldn't help but notice the absence of the edgehog but I pushed those thoughts aside. Probably plotting our murders in his basement...

"Hey, everyone..." I answered, tiredly.

"We thought you'd be pretty tired from yesterday so today we decided to give you the grand tour of our city!" Amy grasped onto my shoulders as I held my cup of coffee. I sighed in relief. I was appreciative of my day off.

"That would be great, Amy." I smiled back at the cheerful hedgehog.

"Awesome! Also, I love your new outfit, Y/N." Amy looked me up and down. I barely noticed I was wearing something slightly revealing but I could care less. They were all animals anyway.

"Looks good, hun." Rouge spoke playfully.

"Aw, thanks girls." I looked away in embarrassment.

"Miss Y/N, would you like to see the chao garden?" Cream tugged on my arm.

"Chao garden?" Everyone looked at me like I was batshit crazy.

"Oh, right..." Sonic and the other realized I had no idea what the hell they were talking about.

"A chao garden is basically a home for our beloved pets, chaos!" Amy gave me a reassuring smile. Animals can have their own pets?

"Oh. Do they bite?" I nervously chuckled.

"Bite? These things are as innocent as your breakfast, Y/N." Sonic giggled.

"Yeah, in fact, they might actually help us discover your abilities. They are supposed to be some sort of psychics." Knuckles leaned over the counter, sipping his hot chocolate.

"How could pets tell the future?" I nearly broke into a fit of laughter.

"They show you through movement." Rogue answered back seriously.

"Hm. I guess I'll have to see for myself." The rest of them nodded in agreement and we all started making our way to the chao garden.

Since Shadow was absent, it took longer to get there since we couldn't chaos control. But the group decided to give me a tour on our walk there anyway. They showed me a bunch of restaurants, stores, and even beautiful sitings on the way. If I were romantically involved, I would definitely want to stay here.

"We're here!" Amy yelped. I looked around in astonishment. Here, I saw a bunch of little blobs of different colors flying around and playing with each other. It was awfully strange that some of them even looked like my fellow companions I've been hanging around with.

"Look! There's Sonic's chao!" Cream pointed at a blue blob who was playing around with a yellow one. I guess they show the connection of our souls or something...I assumed the yellow one was Tails because they were acting like brother's considering how rough they were with each other.

"I wonder if Y/N has one..." Tails muttered, facing back towards the group.

"It's possible. I mean she is stuck here now." Rogue stated. I gulped. I had forgotten I would never see my own humanity again and was saddened. I never had any close connections anyway, but I wasn't sure if I was ready to leave my own planet behind permanently.

"Oh, sorry hun. I didn't mean to make you upset." Rogue took notice in my shift in mood and stared at me with concern.

"It's fine..." I mumbled.

"Hey guys...is it alright if I go off on my own for a bit and try and find my own chao?" I turned back to look at the group.

"Yeah. Have fun, Y/N." Sonic waved me off. I nodded my head and took off into the forest.

It took me a while, but when I was deep into the forest I finally ran into a blur that was similar to me. It was (f/c), with (e/c) eyes. I knew it had to be me, not only the similarity in looks but I also felt something in my heart pulling me towards it. I calmly reached out for the chao and it didn't hesitate to jump into my arms.

As I was cuddling my chao, I decided to come up with a name for it. Luna. I always enjoyed space and this little creature just reminded me of the galaxy.

"I'm going to call you, Luna." I giggled as I hopped it's nose. It cuddled into me even further until it suddenly left my grasp. I was confused until I noticed it was staring at another chao. A red and black chao, with red eyes. I recognized it almost immediately. It was Shadow's chao.
