"C'mon, Y/N. He couldn't of been that mean." Sonic scoffed.

"You should've been there, Sonic."

Flashback:
"Hurry up, slowpoke" I grinned at Shadow.

"Don't speak to me, human." Shadow coldly replied.

"Um, is everything alright? You haven't called me that in a while..."

"You are nothing but a burden. I demand you to keep your mouth shut before I do it for you."

"Shadow, what the hell is wrong with you?!" Rogue pulled me aside.

"It's the truth. She's useless, I don't even know why you guys bother with her." Usually I wouldn't let Shadow get to me like this, but we were just starting to become friends...and his words hurt.

"SHADOW THE HEDGEHOG! LEAVE Y/N ALONE." Rogue screamed.

"ARGH! LEAVE ME ALONE! Y-you pests!"

End of Flashback:

"And then he chaos controlled away, leaving us stranded on the mountain." I sighed, not daring to glance at Sonic.

"That's not like him. Even if he's Shadow. I'm sure he didn't mean it, Y/N, and you are a great asset to the team." Sonic reassured me. It helped but nothing could fix the pain I felt a few days ago.

We had just finished spying on Eggman and Shadow was being oddly quiet. I tried to tease him which I know now to never do again. I guess I pushed one too many buttons...

It's been a few days since that happened and Shadow is no where to be found. He hasn't came by the shack or spoken to anyone, not even Rogue. I was actually worried for him but knowing Shadow, he's probably just in his cave. I hoped.

"Listen...me and the gang are going out for a movie tonight. Do you want to join us?" Sonic dropped his firm grip on his shoulder.

"I would...but I just need to think about some things right now."

"I understand. Use the watch if you need anything." Sonic sat up from my bed and began walking towards the doorway.

"And, Y/N?"

"Yeah?"

"Don't overthink it."

It's been a few hours since the Freedom Fighter's left for their movie. I heard they were going to go out to eat afterwards so they probably wouldn't be back until later. Still, it didn't help leaving me alone with my thoughts. I started to regret not going because what Shadow said to me really hurt for some reason.

Worthless.

Was I really, worthless?

I decided to go make myself dinner to take my mind off things and because I hadn't eaten yet.

As I was stirring spaghetti in the pot, there was a knock at the door. I had no earthly idea who it could be. Everyone was at the movies and I had no other friends besides them.

Hesitantly, I walked over to the door and opened it. Once I saw what was behind it, I shut the door and resumed my cooking.

"-CONTROL!" Should've seen that coming. I groaned at Shadow's presence. Why couldn't he just take the hint?

"What." I said in a demanding tone. Shadow stood there in the kitchen with a ping of guilt on his face. If I wasn't so angry I would've actually cared.

"Listen, Y/N, I didn't mean what I said-"

"Then why'd you say it? Words hurt, y'know. I thought we were actually finally getting along and then you went and did that! What the hell did I do to you?!" I unleashed my kept away anger on him. How dare he?!

"I was dealing with other things! I swe-"

"I don't want to hear your excuses! I don't want to hear anything from you! I don't want to be near you. You hurt me and you are not forgiven! Now leave." I glared at him. He didn't dare look back.

"Can you just listen to me? Im trying to-"

"Can you listen to me? When I say I don't want to hear you out I mean it! Get out!" I growled, pointing at the door.

What Shadow did next caught me very off guard. He pinned me into the counter and glared at me with his ruby red eyes. Both his arms trapped me between him and the counter and I gulped at his intentions. Shit. I'm going to die!

"God damn it, Y/N! Listen to me!" He hissed. "I didn't mean anything I said! I was confused and angry about something and took it out on you! I regret doing that and I'm...sorry." Shadow sighed, his angered eyes turning into one's of sorrow. I knew he genuinely meant it. But I wasn't so sure what to think yet. I was speechless.

"You don't need to forgive me right now. But I'll make it up to you, I promise."

"Well, for starters can you unpin me?" I rolled my eyes. Shadow looked down at his arms and I saw a faint red come across his muzzle. He quickly scrambled off me and folded his arms.

"Sorry...about that." He nearly stuttered.

"Whatever. I don't exactly forgive you just yet but I guess I won't flip shit when I see you next time." I lowly chuckled, resuming to my stirring in the pot.

"That's fair." Shadow sighed. "Do you believe me when I say I didn't mean it? Because I didn't. I think you're a strong, smart, beautiful woman, and don't let anyone tell you otherwise." Did...did Shadow just call me...beautiful? This time, I was the one who was left flustered but thankfully Shadow was unable to see my tomato face because of the way I was turned.

"T-thanks..." I muttered.

"I'm going to go back to my cave but I'll be back tomorrow." Shadow pulled out his chaos emerald.

"Alright, bye Shadow." I waved.

"Goodnight, Y/N."

"CHAOS CONTROL!"

And just like that, Shadow had left. He left a very flustered (e/c) eyed human. Humming, I reached for a plate and pulled some spaghetti out from the pot. As I sat down at the counter I noticed something sitting on top of it.

A rose, left behind from Shadow.
