Chapter 11: A Walk Downtown

"-CONTROL!" I twirled around when I heard that voice. Shadow was here, on the beach. But why? I had told the gang I wanted fresh air, hinting I wanted to be alone. So why is he following me?

"Shadow?" I looked back at his crimson red eyes. I couldn't help but notice Shadow was blushing, he looked rather flustered? Oh boy, what'd Rogue do to you...

"Huh?" Shadow looked up from the sand and gazed at me, his blush still visible.

"What are you doing here?" Shadow looked very uncomfortable, I couldn't figure out why though. Rogue probably kissed him or something.

"I don't really know..." Shadow sighed.

"Did the others want me to come back?"

"Oh, yeah. That's it." Shadow snapped out of his trance and looked at me with uncertainty.

"Okay...are we going to chaos control?" I was getting annoyed by his dazed state of mind.

"No."

"Okay, smart guy. Then how are we getting back?" I tapped my feet on the ground impatiently.

"Walking, idiot." Shadow rolled his eyes. I seriously hate you...

"Why can't we just chaos control? I've done enough damn walking!" I was so tired from the past few days and I was going to take every chance I got to be lazy.

"Language. My chaos emerald needs to recharge so we can't use it." I groaned at him. I don't even remember where we came from.

"Do you know the way back?" I glanced back at him.

"Of course I do." He looked at me as if I was some dumb toddler.

"It's not my fault I'm on some alien planet and I don't know where to go!" I nearly yelped.

"Hmph. Let's just go." Before I could protest, the hedgehog grabbed my hand and started dragging me along with him. This is very unnecessary.

"I can walk, y'know."

"I don't trust you're not going to get lost."

"I can literally just walk right behind you."

"You're too stupid to be roaming free." I really did not want to hold hands with Shadow, especially after his snarky comments. But I had no choice, he was much stronger and stubborn than I was. Maybe I'll just piss him off, yeah that'll be fun...

"Shadowwww"

"What?"

"I'm bored!"

"I don't care."

"Entertain me!"

"No."

"This is why I made you buy me that skateboard."  I hissed at Shadow.

"Tsch, I didn't buy it. That was faker's money." Yeah, right. I knew he bought it with his own money. I saw him grab cash out of a completely different pocket, but I'll let it slide.

"Sure, whatever. Can I get a job?" Might as well help society somehow...

"Why? You don't need a job." Shadow answered, rather confused.

"I want to help with money. I can't expect to rely on you guys forever." Shadow smirked at that.

"What?" I furrowed my brows.

"Nothing, it's just that...I don't die."

"I guess that's true. But I'd still feel bad using everyone's else's money." Shadow hummed in response, so I continued.

"So, what do they have for jobs here?" I had completely forgotten our hands were intertwined because Shadow was actually holding my hand gently. If he were actually nice, I would've been blushing madly right now.

"Not the kind of jobs you'll like."

"What about a restaurant?" Shadow let out a low chuckle.

"They don't pay much." He answered back playfully.

"Then I'll get two jobs!" I said with determination.

"I'm sure they won't mind you leeching off them." Shadow gazed at the environment ahead of us. Way to make me sound like a dick.

"Rogue said something about G.U.N-" I was rudely interrupted by Mr. Emo.

"No." He answered bluntly.

"Why not?" I felt his grip tighten on my hand.

"It's a job you can't handle."

"Why do you always treat me like a child?!" I was started to get pissed at the hedgehog. I wanted to let go of his hand but he was holding on so tightly I couldn't.

"G.U.N is dangerous, Y/N." Shadow avoided eye contact with me.

"And I have powers! I know to fight! I can use weapons I'll be fine." I tried reassuring the hedgehog.

"I'm not worried about your safety. I don't want you getting in the way of our missions." Ouch. Asshole. Could he have at least pretended?

"I won't get in the way." I replied coldly. I was sick of his shit and I'm tired of acting nice towards him.

"Tsch, we're here. Don't mention this to them." Shadow and I abruptly stopped in front of the shack. He dropped his grip on my hand and I didn't hesitate to pull away.

To piss him off more, I flipped Mr. Emo off before walking into the shack and greeting everyone else. I could feel Shadow practically boiling from here.

"Hey, Y/N! Did you have fun?" Amy cheerfully greeted me. At least she wasn't a little bitch.

"Yeah, um, I have a question for you guys..." Everyone stopped what they were doing and looked at me. I could feel Shadow's eyes piercing at my back. Sorry, Shads. I'm mentioning it.

"Can I get a job at G.U.N?" The gang was taken back at my question, but the only one who looked disturbed was Shadow.

"Actually, blue, that's not a bad idea." Rogue placed a hand on my shoulder.

"Yes, it is." Shadow huffed.

"No wait, it could possible activate her powers." Tails chimed in.

"Exactly. I'll bring you to H.Q tomorrow, hun." Wow, that was quick. I smiled in excitement.

"She's only going to bring us down." Shadow glared at the group. I glared back in return.

"Ya never know, Shads. She could be the next ultimate life form." Sonic joked, earning a growl from the edgehog.

"Whatever. I'm done with all of you. Don't screw this up, human." Shadow hissed at me. I slowly stuck my middle finger out and flipped him off again.

"CHAOS CONTROL!" Shadow left in the blink of an eye. Why couldn't he just do that earlier? Maybe it just finished recharging...I didn't care. I was too pissed off at Shadow to spend time with the group. I stormed off into my room and slammed the door.
