When I wake up the next morning, I need a few seconds to realize where I am. I'm at the compound now. Mom is already gone as announced and I stretch before I get out of bed and go back into my own room.
I take my time in the shower since it's Saturday and I have nowhere to be.
My outfit is easy, just some leggings and a sweatshirt and I'm good to go.

The way to the kitchen is easily found and I look through the cabinets to see what is in stock. I decide on some cereal and pour it into the bowl and add milk. Since I'm alone I decide to sit on one of the barstools at the counter and look around.
"Friday?" I ask a little shy.
"What can I do for you, Miss Romanoff?" An electrical voice sounds through the room.
"Can you play some music?" I ask, not sure if it is able to do that. But apparently it is because music starts playing. Just some random song so I tell Friday what I want to listen to and turn down the volume down so it's silently playing in the background.

It's unusual to sit alone here because someone is always there but I guess they are all in the same meeting as my mom.
After I put my bowl and spoon into the dishwasher, I get up to look around a bit more. Friday asks to shut the music off as I wait for the elevator and I allow it.
It's interesting to explore the compound. Obviously, I already know the floor with all of our rooms and this one so I choose the one below this one.

I spot Tony's lab and Banner's next to it. Further down the hallway I open a door and step into a huge gym with higher ceilings. That probably explains why the floor one up is smaller.
There are so many different workout things and also a lot of punching bags and a sparing ring.
Going further, I notice a door and open it to see the shooting range.
There are bows and arrows on the wall, as well as guns and knives. I think about trying to throw one but I'm worried Friday is somehow gonna see it and inform my mom and I don't want to get in trouble since I'm not allowed to throw them and especially not alone.
With a sigh I leave this room and the gym.
On the other side of Tony's and Bruce's labs, there is the medical bay, which makes sense since Bruce will probably be here anyways.

The next floor seems to be the ground floor and I see the entrance. There are hallways that lead to conference rooms. I don't need to look further in this direction because it's all S.H.I.E.L.D. stuff and not really interesting.

Now the elevator takes me underground and there are two doors leading away from the little corridor. The left one looks strange because there is some technical stuff on the side of the door. I try to open the door but it won't move.
"Identity?" A mechanical voice, that isn't Friday, asks.
"Y/n Romanoff?" I ask confused on what this thing needs to know.
"Y/n Romanoff, please put your hand on the scanner next to the door."
Ah, that's this thing. I put my hand on it and it seems to scan my hand. When a loading screen appears, I take my hand back. A few seconds later the door opens with a silent noise and I walk in.

Now I understand the security, this is where all the suits are. I walk through the glass pillars and look at the suits in awe. They are so cool and I really wish I had one myself but I don't need one since I'm not going on missions. That's why I never asked Tony to build me one.
As I walk further in, I enter the space where all the weapons are stored. They are additionally secured which makes sense. It's amazing what they store here but eventually I get bored and walk back out, now facing the other door.

The atmosphere behind this door is different and I get why when I pass the first cell. This is where they keep enemies after they caught them.
I slowly go further and jump when I notice one cell isn't empty. A girl around my age sits in it and looks at the little TV in the corner. She looks familiar but I can't see her face.
"Why are you staring at me?" She says out of the blue and I jump again, not expecting her to have noticed me. She has a thick accent that I can't quite assign to any country.
"Sorry, I was just looking around." I explain and watch as she turns around. My eyes fall on her face and I finally remember where I know her from, she was the girl in the news about Sokovia.
"What are you doing here?" I ask and feel her eyes scanning my body and I shift a little.
"Isn't that obvious? They think I'm a threat so they keep me locked up." She answers plainly, her face just showing the slightest bit of annoyance.
"Are you a threat though?" I ask, not able to take my eyes off her. She looks beautiful and I feel myself blush as she raises her eyebrow at my staring.
"Some might say I am." She replies, keeping her eyes on me as if she wanted to read my body language.

"But you fought alongside the Avengers, didn't you?" I remember seeing her fighting the same robots as my mother and the others did. So why is she locked up in here?
"I did but Tony Stark doesn't trust me. He wanted to lock me up, afraid I'd do something 'stupid'."

By her tone and reaction, I gather that she doesn't like Tony and I shortly wonder if there's more to this. Our eyes meet for a few seconds and I feel weirdly drawn to her. I don't know what it is but she makes me want to stay here and talk with her forever. Her eyes are intense and I break the eye contact, feeling a slight tingle in my stomach.

"You're wearing my mom's jacket." I notice the leather jacket she already wore in Sokovia.
She shrugs and shortly zones out before her eyes become a little sad.
"Is everything okay?" I ask a little concerned. Why am I concerned about how a stranger feels?
"You're the redhead's daughter?" She changes the topic and I nod slowly.
"Are you an Avenger too? Did they send you down here to check on me or anything?"
I take a little step back when her eyes seem to glow slightly red for a second. Did that really just happen or was it just the light?
"I'm not..." I say after a few seconds of being confused. "I was just exploring the compound. I didn't know they held you down here."
Her eyes fixate on me for a few seconds and I'm not sure what she's trying to do but when she nods, her expression relaxes a little.

"And what are you doing here at the compound?" She crosses her legs on the bed she's sitting on, her tone a tiny bit friendlier now.
I'm confused about why she suddenly seems less hostile.
"I live here since yesterday." I don't know why I chose honesty but something about her makes me want to be honest with her.

She nods. "What is your name?"
This question takes me a little by surprise but she's right, we didn't really introduce ourselves.
"I'm y/n."
"Y/n." She repeats and little butterflies erupt in my stomach from the way that she says my name. "I'm Wanda."
"Hi, Wanda." I greet and smile a little. One corner of her mouth lifts a little bit. "So, do you know when-" I get caught off by Friday.

"Y/n, your mother is looking for you and asked me to tell you to meet her in the dining room for lunch." It informs me and I look back at Wanda.
Something has changed during the last few seconds and she seems cooler again.
"I'm gonna come visit you again so you're not alone." I promise her.
She stays silent and after a few short seconds of eye contact, she turns around to the TV.
I sigh internally and make my way back to the elevator. If I'm being honest, I'm intrigued by her and also in awe with how beautiful she looks. Maybe my mom can tell me why she is locked up here.

A/n: We meet Wanda for the first time, let's see how Nat thinks about that.
