The first two days on the trip were uneventful.

The only problem was my coach sickness.

 But that day was different.

The passengers and escorting adventurers were getting to know each other, and the tension had been lifted.

In a sense, it was the period when it was easiest to let one's guard down.

When the carriage was moving along the road in the forest, something tugged at the edge of my senses.

But it wasn't so much hostility, only a sense of discomfort.

Hmm?"

''What's wrong, Nicole-sama?''

Hmm?"

Experiences like this happened several times in the past.

On these occasions, there was always an enemy without a will.

'There might be something out there. You better be careful."

''What is it, ......?''

'Probably artificial life. An enemy without hostility.'

Finia hears my words and immediately goes to transmit them to the adventurers. She's very perceptive and very helpful.

Enemies without hostility do indeed exist.

Gargoyles, blobs and golems. And plant monsters.

These enemies have no hostile intent and attack reflexively on instinct or command, making them difficult to spot if they are mimicked.

It is the job of the scouts to spot them.

'Is it true that there is an enemy?

Hearing Finia's report, one of the adventurers came over to us.

A look of suspicion and then impatience flashed in his eyes.

Mimetic monsters have a very high mortality rate when trapped. The fact that they could not sense it means that they have already fallen behind.

That's why, with a sense of crisis, they came here to check on us.

'Yes. A little in the direction of Shinko. And later, in the forest."

I don't try to speak in a childish way, but my tongue doesn't roll all the way around, so I end up speaking in a childish way.

Moreover, the quality of his voice is high and clear sounding, so there is nothing powerful about it.

But after my words, the adventurer looks to the female adventurer. In response, she immediately rushes to the front of the carriage.

'The forest will be fine as long as we don't set foot in it. The problem is the one waiting for us up ahead.'

A report that would normally have been dismissed as childish nonsense.

But over the past two days, it's been well acknowledged that I'm not the kind of kid who tells lies like that.

That's why the adventurers are taking me seriously.

A while after the carriage came to a halt, the adventurers who had been scouting ahead returned.

'How did it go?'

'They were definitely there. Two blobs, behind some grass by the side of the road.'

'I'm surprised. Can you detect it at such a distance ......?"

"Uh-huh."

I looked at it with childlike pride, but the actual act of being praised is always a nice feeling.

It's no wonder I was a little bit puffed up.

The Blob is slow. The blobs are slow-moving, and as long as they don't catch you by surprise, they're not such a formidable foe. We'll go ahead and eliminate them here, so just stand by.'

Are you sure you're okay?"

'Oh. 'If you fight them head-on, they're not a scary foe.'

Weapons melt, though.

Ugh, you've got a spare bottle of booze."

One of the blob's most distinctive features is its powerful acid attack.

This is an attack that ejects parts of its own body, so the weapon used in the attack is also affected by the acid.

If left unattended, the weapon will corrode within a few hours and become unusable.

This is the nasty part of the blob.

To prevent this, they must be disinfected with alcohol. There are good reasons why adventurers carry alcohol with them.

'Also, it's a hard-hitting enemy. So it might take a while, but don't come back to check on me, okay?"

''If we're not back in two hours, just turn around''.

''Uh-oh.''

'It's okay. It's just a contingency.'

The adventurers run off, calling out to the worried merchant.

As she watched over their backs, Michelle murmured.

'I wonder if they're all right? From what I've heard, you sound like a pretty careless person."

'It's all right. I've heard that you've been through that too. It's a tough enemy, so it'll take some time."

In my experience, they are not a force to be beaten by a blob or so.

But then I sensed a new presence.

''Ah!''

''What's going on?''

'Something is coming from behind at great speed. Hostile intent.'

"'Enemy'?

Probably a wild animal that was after this wagon. It's an enemy with a very wide search range, like it's attacking from outside my detection range.

The adults are excited to hear what I have to say.

Michelle's father draws his bow to protect his child. Finia also got out of the carriage with her dagger at the ready.

'Wow, I too ......' ......!

'Don't get out of the carriage, Michelle. Shoot from there.'

'So you're okay with that?'

'Yes.'

I gave that short instruction and I jumped off the wagon and pulled out my katana too.
