Rose's POV

Chocolate brown irises look directly into mine as my iridescent hazel eyes flicker exhaustedly open. For a second I don't know why I am looking into the Doctor's eyes and why I am laying in my own bed at home. Then I remember that the Doctor thought I might have the flu and flew me home, late last night.

Stupid Doctor. He's great with alien diseases, but he can't even treat the flu.

I push myself upwards and smile sleepily at the Doctor. He grins back.

'How's my pink and yellow girl?' he inquires, and I can't wipe the smile off my face because he just called me by his old nickname for me.

He never uses it anymore. Not until today.

'Your pink and yellow girl is fine,' I reply. 'Are you not bored just sitting here watching me sleep like a creeper?'

The Doctor shrugs. 'Nah. It's you I'm watching, after all.'

Slowly a blush creeps up my cheeks and I look away. He makes me blush a lot and I don't know why. It makes me feel like he loves me.

But he doesn't. The Doctor has known too many people to love me, a shop girl from London. He doesn't love me and he never will. He doesn't let himself love. He knows he will only feel the hurt and loss when they are torn away from him.

Maybe he should. Maybe he should let himself love.

But even if he did, I know that he would never love me.
