A/N welllll hello everyone and welcome to my turn left au! it's been so much fun writing this book so far, thank you all for sticking with me <33 im actually prewriting this since I am incapable of doing anything but write, stuck on the sofa in portugal with a sprained coccyx xD I have some great ideas for this au and since it's one of my favourite trilogy episodes, it's going to be really fun to play with! please enjoy and leave suggestions for what you want after this au :)

Rose's POV

'The planet...what?'

It's the next morning and all three of us are geared up for our first TARDIS trip in what seems like years.

'Shan Shen,' says the Doctor, fiddling with buttons and levers. The way he says it makes me smile every time, and I don't even know why. 'It's like Intergalactic China. They still have all the packed streets and fortune telling, but it's an entirely alien planet.'

I grin. 'Sounds cool. Let's go.' He grins and pulls down the usual lever, making the TARDIS vibrate and dematerialise, landing with a thud on a street of the planet Shan Shen.

The Doctor opens the creaky door and we step outside, hands automatically linking quickly. Jack appears behind us. 'This is...wow,' he says, looking round the crowded street. There are stalls selling food and drinks everywhere, and eccentric looking people walk around.

'So what do they sell here?' I ask the Doctor, glancing at a stall that looks like it is selling giant hot chocolates, heaped with cream and marshmallows. He shrugs. 'All the general Earth stuff, just made on a different planet. They have everything you'd see in a market on Sunday.'

Jack whistles. 'This is certainly something.' I nod. 'You got that right.'

We decide to split up and meet back at the TARDIS later. The Doctor goes off to buy some of the hot chocolate, and I browse a stall selling beautiful gemstone jewellery.

A second later, a dark haired woman creeps out of the shadows, behind a large red tent. I can feel her eyes on me, but I don't turn, until she suddenly grabs my arm. I jump, startled, and face her.

'Would you like to have your fortune told?' the woman asks me rather slyly, with a heavy foreign accent. I shake my head and writhe out of her steely grip. 'Uh, no thank you.' She smiles, and walks around me, her tight grasp loosened.

(A/N please don't have a go at me because I know this isn't what she says in the episode, she talks about how the reading is free for redheads. I meant for this to be different)

'Oh, but you can't be sure about that...' the woman contradicts, letting her sentence trail off. I don't reply, beginning to be a little scared. 'You must not be afraid of what lies ahead,' she continues. 'It could be beautiful, hopeful, surprising, or what could be lurking behind you? The big, bad wolf...?'

At this I jump again. Who is this woman, and how does she know about Bad Wolf? I shake my head and back away from her. 'No, no thanks. I don't want to know. Leave me alone,' I say forcefully.

'Oh, but don't you want to know?' she pushes, once again taking hold of my arm. 'Just come, come and see...there's nothing to be afraid of...'

Closing my eyes for a brief moment, I feel a hand on my back guiding me into the red tent. I am pushed roughly into a chair opposite a table, and I want to cry out for help, but I can't. My voice is hidden, quiet, silent.

The woman takes my palm and I attempt to pull away, but her grip tightens. 'I see a man,' she begins. 'I see an important, prominent man...a vital figure in your life. Where did you meet him?'

I close my eyes again and smile at the memory. 'I was working late,' I say. 'I was looking for my friend, he was upstairs in the store room. One thing led to another, and, uh...he turned up.'

'And what led you to that decision,' she asks, 'what was the moment that changed that day? Why were you at work? What could you have done to not meet the man?' I gulp. It had never crossed my mind, but now that I thought about it.

I sigh. 'I never thought much of it at the time. The night before, I fell over, on the street. Tripped over a paving stone. And my mum told me not to go to work, but I did anyway...'

'Put yourself back there,' the woman insists. 'Take your mind back to that moment, when you made that decision to go to work. And change it. Change the past. Stay home, stay home, and never meet this man...'
